~Bella's POV~

Once we got to the kitchen Jack checked his phone and as I looked over his shoulder I saw 13 missed calls from Gabbie. Jack and Gabbie broke up when she first got pregnant because they had fallen out of love and she had cheated but they were still great friends. She left a text that said, "The baby is here. Sorry for all the missed calls. I have some really bad news I need you to come over ASAP." I jumped off his back and looked at him as he read the text.

"I can stay go home if you want. I don't want to be rude." I said quietly.

"I want you to come with me. She's my best friend and if something is wrong I want you there." He replied.

"Are you sure? I feel like she wouldn't want me there..." I told him truthfully.

"I'm sure. I bet she'd love to meet you." He reassured me.

"Okay. I'll go get ready." I said smiling.

"Okay, I'm gonna go tell the boys that we're going." He told me and hugged me. I walked back to his room and opened my bag getting some clothes out.

I got changed and did my hair and makeup. My mind raced, what was wrong with Gabbie? Will she be mad that I'm there? Will she hate me? I put all my stuff away and went back downstairs to see Jack waiting at the front door. We got in the car and turned on some music because we were both worried and it showed. It was a short drive to Gabbie's apartment and we rushed up the stairs to meet her. Jack nervously knocked on the door and we heard a baby crying as Gabbie rushed to open the door. She didn't look good, she was so pale, her eyes were dull and she looked so tired. She let us into the apartment after I introduced myself and we all sat in the living room while she handed the baby to Jack.

"I'm sorry I made you guys come over but I really had to tell you what was happening." She said with a shaky voice as I nodded and stayed quiet.

"It's okay. What's wrong?" Jack asked also with a shaky voice.

"Well, when I went to the hospital last night to deliver Lavender, everything was going okay until she was born. I passed out a couple of times and they ran some tests on both of us. I'm sick. I have a tumor right next to my heart and it has been growing and constricting my heart. They said I have a couple of months left... They can't get the tumor out without damaging my heart even more which will just give me less time. Lavender is fine so I want her to live with you so she doesn't get a bond with me before I'm gone. You don't have to if-" He cut her off as tears ran down all of our faces.

"I'll take her. Of course, I'll take her. I'm so sorry this is happening." He said hugging her.

"I'm so sorry Gabbie." I said crying as I took Lavender out of Jack's arms so he could hug Gabbie properly.

"It's okay, I already packed most of her stuff but I need some help getting the rest. Bella, can you come with me, please? Jack you can get to know Lav a little better..." She said trying to cheer herself up.

"Sure." I followed her into her bedroom taking one last glance at Jack as he looked at Lavender with joy and sadness in his eyes. She closed the door and started getting the rest of the baby clothes out of the dresser and placing them in a bag.

"Lavender is gorgeous. I know Jack will take good care of her." I said quietly.

"Thank you. I know he'll be a good dad it's just so hard sending her off to live with someone else so soon. You two are the only people that know by the way... I'm announcing it tonight so that my family and friends know instead of me having to tell them in person." She replied.

"I understand that," I said smiling as best as I could. We finished packing up Lavender's stuff and Gabbie put her in her car seat to take her downstairs. Jack put the crib and stroller in the car as I carried Lav and Gabbie took the bags. Jack and I got Lavender in the car and said bye to Gabbie, asking her if she wanted us to tell the guys.

"Please. I'd rather someone else do it than me... I'm just not ready." She replied quietly.

"Don't worry okay?" Jack asked more than said.

"Okay." We got in the car and Gabbie went back to her apartment. As we drove home Lavender slept quietly and I dried my eyes. Jack and I talked about Lavender and how she would grow up until he said something I never thought he'd say as we pulled into the driveway.

"I know we only met a couple days ago but... Will you be my girlfriend? You don't have to say yes. I just really like you and Lavender needs a mother figure..."
