As One

Most people believe that happiness and sadness are two different things. Most people believe that they are utter opposites, never colliding, never touching, never one

Those people are far from the truth. No one in the history of humanity it's self has been purely happy, or purely sad. Happiness and sadness always meet in the middle. They always accompany one another, for when one is happy, they are just working through their sadness. When one is sad, they are just wishing they were happy. They are nothing without each other.

'How depressing,' you might think. 'How utterly dreary.' But on the contrary, in realizing this, we can be grateful for our sadness. If we learn to live another day with our sadness then we can learn to be grateful for the small moments of happiness. We can be content with the fact that we have strived long and hard, that what we long for most was not just handed to us on a silver platter that we did not sacrifice to achieve.

Because no matter what, I would rather live a life of sadness than be happily ignorant.
