Accidents Happen

Scene I

[In a College/University hallway at the lockers before school starts. Noise is in the background. Enter Sadie and Vanessa.]

Sadie: Hey, did you hear about Mark?

Vanessa: No, What about him? [Vanessa closes her locker.]

Sadie: He got into a car accident last night.

Vanessa: Is he hurt?!

Sadie: He's been in the I.C.U. since he got to the hospital. Simon, his brother has been texting me. Everyone is worried.

Vanessa: I bet. Are you going to the hospital?

Sadie: As soon as Simon gives me the O.K. I will be.

Vanessa: Keep me posted. I want to go with you.

Sadie: Are you sure? He hasn't been the nicest to you.

Vanessa: I know, but I feel bad. I should visit him. Try to...I don't know, make amends.

Sadie: You? Make amends? For something you didn't do?

Vanessa: Well, what if something happens to him and he doesn't make it? I don't know how I would feel if I didn't try to talk things out.

Sadie: I guess. [Phone Beeps] Hey, it's Simon. He says we can go to the hospital at lunch.

Vanessa: Okay, I'll meet you at the front. Thanks for taking me with you.

Sadie: No problem, Vanessa.
