| CHAPTER TWO - 750 WORDS |

MACKENZIE WAITED PATIENTLY as her helmet was safely attached to her head. She was behind Alex who seemed rather slow climbing as he mumbled not to look down. She felt bad for the boy who was most likely inside most of his life by the looks of it. Conrad walked over and grabbed her own harness, clipping it onto her vest.

She reached for the ladder and climbed upwards, going slightly slow from the boy above her still. Mackenzie reached the top to see Alex decided whether he should go.

"I'll go first." Mackenzie smiled towards Alex and grabs onto the zip line, lifting her feet off the ground and feeling her hair flowing behind her as the trees below her fly past. She just wished since she had jumped maybe Alex would follow her footsteps without thinking.

Mackenzie was now wearing some shorts with a tank top over, one of Gabriel's hoodies over top. She used to steal his clothing all of the time and this was one she kept and it helped her sleep at night.

She could admit she did have a tiny crush on the attractive boy. Although, she knew if she had said anything than their friendship would of been ruined or awkward. Guess it's already that way in her mind.

The wind was slightly picking up as Mackenzie looked upwards to see some of the stars lighting the night sky. It wasn't fully dark but it wasn't bright either. Mackenzie comes across a bridge to see Alex on one side and the girl he tried talking to on the other, both looking up at the mountains.

A smile spread across her lips softly as she silently watched the two, crossing her arms. Her mind drifted away from them and to thoughts of Gabriel. Her eyes started to water softly as she kept thinking if whatever happened with him was her fault.

She shakes her head desperately and walks quickly towards her cabin, getting inside the bed and shuts her eyes tightly. Mackenzie's hands fumbled with the strings of his sweatshirt, something she always did to him when they watched the stars while laying on grass, cuddled up to one another.

If you looked at them, automatically you would think they were dating or something was going on between them. The two just thought it was normal to them.

Mackenzie runs up behind Alex who was playing with a rubrics cube. She placed a hand on his shoulder, making him tense up.

"Hey, Red." She smiles to the boy. She felt as if she could try and make friends due to her being her for most likely more than she's supposed to because her parents would forget her.

Alex says nothing in response, looking over behind her to see the same girl from last night. They stare at one another until that boy who Mackenzie learned his name, Dariush, pushes them out of the way and runs to the counselor's van, calling shotgun. and gets inside the van, letting Mackenzie get the window seat and him beside of her. Dariush gets in after trying his hardest to get in the van in front of them, making Alex and Mackenzie becoming even more squished against the window.

"This should be fun." Mackenzie mumbles against the window seal, mentally flipping off her parents for sending her to this camp.

"Hope y'all aren't afraid of sharks! Put y'all seatbelts on!" Logan yells from outside the van, getting inside the driver seat and started it up.

"Cause my license is suspended" He says as he starts driving off.

Mackenzie's eyes widen at Logan's comment, tensing up inside the van as she looks out the window. She realized that she was still wearing Gabriel's hoodie with her tank still beneath and her spandex. Did she forget to even change?

"Ah, sorry guys, some little kid shit the canoe while shooting the rapids."

Everyone aw's in harmony, Mackenzie folding her arms together tightly as she sees the girl from earlier running off. She felt bored and bolted after the girl, hearing Alex ask where they were going and hearing the name, Zhenzhen.

Beside the group of children was a waterfall, Zhenzhen climbing on top of it with Mackenzie following close behind and Alex, being Alex, hesitating to even go up there but went anyways.

"Damn.." Mackenzie mumbled underneath her breath at the view before her. She smiled and saw Zhenzhen lifting her arm and smiling wide at the scenery.
