| CHAPTER FIVE - 1081 WORDS |

DARIUSH YELLS OUT, "Hello?!"

The entire camp looks deserted and half destroyed with the canoes on the ground, some sacks and the flag pole on the ground as well. You couldn't see anybody due to the dust floating around them.

"What's that?" There was a sign laying against something behind of it.

"They left us.." Dariush exclaims.

"Not all of them!" Gabriel yells a little bit from where we were. Mackenzie looks over and runs beside of Gabriel.

"Never thought I would be happy to see Conrad." Mackenzie says out loud and runs to him with everyone else behind her.

"Is he dead?"

"He's breathing. He must of slept through the evacuation." Gabriel says after checking his pulse.

Dariush scoffs. "Okay, what kind of asshole sleeps through an evaluation."

Zhenzhen lifts up something in her hand that was labeled milk. That was most definitely not milk in her hand. She takes a swig and throws it across the table.

"I, uh, don't think that was milk."

Gabriel tries to use the phone line which was nothing not even a ring with it. He slams it back down and looks at the others with no expression. Mackenzie missed him and wished it could just be just the two but she knew something was up about the explosions and such.

"Lines dead." Gabriel speaks and looks towards Alex but before taking a glance at Mackenzie. He knew she was wearing his hoodie and couldn't help but smile at how good she looked in it.

Alex flipped the light switch on and the room continued to stay dim. The sun from outside being the only light to help see.

"It's cause the powers out." Alex looks at everyone else and continues with his words. "You know what a EMP is?" He asks the group of teenagers before him.

"Uh yeah. It's what white people dance to!" Dariush responds to, gesturing hand movements to represent dancing.

"That's EDM. EMP stands for electromagnetic pulse. A nuclear explosion in the upper atmosphere can cause one. And it knocks out most electronics, over a really big area."

"Uhm, English please?" Mackenzie asks while looking over at Zhenzhen and seeing her place things inside and out her backpack.

"It means nothing works."

Another loud explosion happened from outside, everyone ushering to get out there. Gabriel waits patiently for Mackenzie as she was slow to get up, her legs already aching from running earlier. He grabs her hand, intertwining it together with her. Mackenzie couldn't help but feel sparks flying around them, a smile appearing on her lips as he leads her outside.

They all run near the canoe and the lake, Alex still carrying his rubix cube with him. Mackenzie remembered getting one for Gabriel which resulted in him yelling at it for hours as he tried to figure it out.

"Those are F-22 Raptor air superiority fighters." Alex points out, seeing them fight one another.

"What the hell are those ships fighting?" Gabriel asks which was ignored by Alex who stated that he had never seen anything like them.

The engines roared and everyone ran back towards the camp, Gabriel and Mackenzie still hand in hand. The ships flew down towards them, firing green blasters behind them as Mackenzie screams a bloody yell including everyone else. A fighter flew into a near by mountain, explosions were behind them, everything was getting blown up near them. They take a quick turn as fire blew towards the group, Mackenzie gripping tighter onto Gabriel's hand.

A shot was in front of them, sending the group into the air. Gabriel lost Mackenzie's hand as he was hurdling towards the ground with everyone else doing the same. Mackenzie landed onto Gabriel with a loud thud and everyone else was around them.

Mackenzie hurried to get off Gabriel as everyone else got up as well. The camp was now a mess along with dust flying everywhere. Mackenzie pats herself off until Zhenzhen pointed to something flying down to them, lights flying around it.

"Shit!" Mackenzie curses as she turns around and starts running, the group mimicking her actions.

It was too late when it reached the ground, it sent them flying upwards slightly once again.

Mackenzie did a front flip and landed hard onto her back, the wind knocking her breath away. She looked beside her to see Gabriel as he started to get up with everyone else. Mackenzie pushed her self upwards, placing her hands on her knees, hunched over as she pants to grab her normal breathing.

"What the hell is that thing?" Dariush yells as he coughs rather violently.

"It's a dragon capsule!" Alex yells, approaching the spacecraft.

"I thought we weren't supposed to go near any unknown spacecraft! Did you guys even read the emergency broadcast system?" Dariush says.

"Technically we can. Alex knows what it is." Mackenzie coughs softly as she pats herself down again, following Alex as he gets closer to it.

"How do you even know this stuff?" Gabriel asks.

Alex pants softly, "there's a reason why my mom sent me to outdoor camp."

Gabriel goes up to the handle and touches it after many no's from Alex, hissing from the burning against his hand. Mackenzie stifled inside a laugh at her best friend's move.

"It's still hot from re-entry!" Alex yells.

"Ooh, anyone have any water?" Dariush asks. Zhenzhen opens her backpack and throws him the bottle of water, expected him to put it on the handle but instead he starts to chug it.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Mackenzie yells, slapping him in the head.

"Give me that." Gabriel grabs the bottle and sprays it onto the handle to open it until Dariush speaks his loud mouth again.

"You're not seriously going to open that, are you?" Dariush asks Gabriel.

"There could be someone inside!" Gabriel yells back at Dariush. Gabriel always had a good heart when it came to these kind of things. Well, Mackenzie has never came to something like this with aliens and spacecrafts but, normal things.

"Leave it be! We don't know what this shit is." Dariush says as he wipes some of the black stuff on his finger and sniffs it, cringing and wiping it on his shoe.

"This is animal kingdom out here, bitches. All right, survival of the fit—." He gets cut off by the door flinging out of place and hitting him in the head.

"That was easy." Mackenzie laughs silently.
