Corie's Point of View

And we all graduated, the years caught up to us. Kacey became the writer she wanted to be, I earned my degree in finance and accounting, Cal and Luke earned a music degree and started their band–5 Seconds of Summer.

Luke finally sat down and talked to Michael, they both made amends to start the band and reconnected with their friend Ashton who was in Australia. Turns out that Ashton was trying to start a band of his own, but it didn't end up so well.

Calum ended up proposing to Kacey a year ago, they were engaged and their wedding was next month after being together for 7 years. They moved in with each other after finding a place in Los Angeles since it was closer for Calum's work and Kacey could easily find a publisher for her stories.

Luke and I have been together for three years now, we're living together in an apartment in Los Angeles across from Kacey's, they were currently on a tour after releasing their first album.

I was working as an accountant at a nearby bank and Kacey found her newest book idea, we hung out with each other every time we had a day off; going grocery shopping, decorating our apartments, watching scary movies in each other's living rooms. It seemed like a boring life, but there was never a dull moment with her.

Troye moved back to Arizona, he lives with my mom and attends community college. I still keep in touch with him and Mackenzie, calling them a few times each week to check up on them. Mackenzie visited my mom to meet her children— it was another crying festival for everyone.

As for my friends, they were off doing great things. After graduating I opened up my social media accounts again— Matt's YouTube videos were the only ones I enjoyed— they were doing just fine with their lives, the only ones I've recently hung out with were Nash and the Jacks.

Melina and I finally found each other again through social media, she was still earning her degree as a biologist because she wanted to help the environment. I met up with her at Cal Poly's campus and met her girlfriend–they are so cute together. As always, I poured out my heart to her– explaining everything that happened in 7 years we missed. In return she comforted me and she told me about her relationship. She wasn't going through it alone because she joined a Pride Club who basically became her family, I forgot how much I missed her.

Shawn and I haven't talked 7 years. No calls, no texts, no visits. I kept forgetting to give him a call, even on the laid back days. It didn't matter if I did text him though because he changed his number— understandable, there were some crazy fans out there. I could've easily messaged him on social media, but I'm sure he wouldn't have time to scroll through his messages to find me. He must have a million from his fans.

It wasn't disappointing that we haven't talked, people stop talking and move on all the time. Besides, a lot of things were already on my mind. I'm turning 27 soon and the boys were coming to visit for a few days so we could celebrate. Being an adult was difficult, I had to talk to so many people, pay bills and taxes, and clean. I don't even properly take care of myself on some days.

"Have you ever been to Disneyland?" Kacey asked me as she was laying stomach down on her bean bag chair. I was cooking some rosé pasta for dinner.

"Yeah I went with Shawn, we ditched school for a few days," I smiled at the memory. He drank about 12 Monster drinks if I could remember and his scholarship was taken away– fuck that school.

"I haven't been there, Luke and Cal haven't been there. We should go!" Kacey reached for her laptop, "I have a discount from my insurance company and we could celebrate your birthday— uh, can you hand me the laptop?"
