"Alright, you're looking fresh. Stop fidgeting" Sam basically scolded Bucky, they looked like a parent and child, Sam fixing his outfit while he whined and complained.

" Would you stop"

"Hey, I'm not letting you walk out of here looking like a hot mess. No sir not on my watch" Bucky rolled his eyes as he watched him wag his finger and rolled his neck. The two of them spent all of yesterday planning they had decided on dinner and ice skating then they had spent all of today finding the perfect Resturant, ice skating rink, and outfit. They had planned this night to perfection.

"Tonight is going to be perfect. This girl... she loves you like no one else. She is perfect in your imperfect life. She's sweet, kind, innocent, and loving and she has decided to share it all with you... Don't fuck it up. You won't find anything better" Sam pat him on the chest and smiled "no pressure".

Bucky glared at him " I hate you".

Before Sam could respond Steve and (y/n) rounded the corner she gave a shy wave as Bucky did a one over on her looks. She was stunning. "You-You look beautiful" he stuttered "You look beautiful - I mean handsome. You-you look handsome" they both blushed as they awkwardly looked at each other and stood there. Sam and Steve rolled their eyes.

"Alright, you guys go on have a nice night have a good time"

"Enjoy your date. Be back by 11. B safe bye, bye" and with that Steve and Sam pushed both of them on the elevator and bid them farewell. " They grow up so fast," Steve said wiping imaginary tears placing a hand over his heart.

"Yeah, look at our babies go" the two stood looking at the elevator door.

"Alright, want a beer"

"Sure"
-

"U you look lovely this evening," Bucky said as he drove eyes focusing on the road. This was the third time he complimented her appearance.

"Thank you" this ride was very awkward.

"why is this awkward we weren't awkward earlier," he said finally addressing the uneven air.

"Sorry, I've never been on a date before. Besides the double date with Steve and Jazmine", she looked down at her fingers

"It's okay I don't remember dating. So, I guess was in the same boat. Um, there is this nice Resturant Sam recommended I was going to take you and afterward I thought we'd go Ice skating or for a walk"

"That sounds nice".

Now they sat in silences, a comfortable silence.

-
The restaurant was nice walking in (y/n) felt a tad underdress but Bucky assured her she was fine, she was beautiful. The hostess gave them a booth in the back where the people were less and the lights were dim. " Is this good enough? Do you want another booth? I can get us another booth"

"It's fine, Bucky. It's perfect." She took his hand in hers and gave it a gentle squeeze he shook his head "you're not just saying that, are you?"

"no" she looked around " It really is perfect. The lighting isn't too bright not too dark, not people around no hearing close conversations, and a very close escape route" she nodded over towards the kitchen. He didn't realize but he always subconsciously made sure there was an escape route close to him. Old habits die hard. He laughed and rubbed his neck sheepishly.

Dinner went well Bucky order steak and (y/n) order Salmon, they talked about happy memories they remembered, or Bucky remembered as her memories weren't as exciting as his. He talked a lot about his adventures with Steve before the war and a little bit during the war. By the looks of it, Bucky and Steve had a very adventurous life.

"I'm sorry, I'm rambling," he said when he finally noticed he look in her eyes.

"It's okay. Your stories are much more interesting than mine. My life was pretty dull until I ran away and then those memories aren't good ones or appropriate for public discussion where others can possibly hear" she looked sideways she knew not far away their waitress was listening in. "I'm sorry to say, sir, but I was an innocent little good girl who followed all the rules and did as told my life was very dull" she laughed. Their waitress came by and took their plates and promised to return with the bill. She was very nervous as she had known she had been caught listening, but she had a job to do so she had to bare it. She didn't mean to snoop but they were just so cute.

"All work and no play makes (Y/n) a dull girl" she laughed at his joke " maybe we can change that"

-

"It has been 50 years I have no clue what I'm doing " (y/n) said as she held on to Bucky who skated backward. The last time (y/n) went ice skating she was 12 years old and held her father's hands the entire time. Decades had gone by she felt like a shaky kid on the ice again.

"Don't worry I got you I won't let you fall," Bucky promised as he held her arms and skated backward very slowly this was a bad idea. I don't like this" (y/n) flinched as a teen boy can straight at her high speed then jerked to a stop the ice he kicked up hitting her ankles the boy and his friends laughed until they saw Bucky's glared then they all quickly speed off to the other side of the ring.

"I'm sorry maybe this was a bad idea, we should come on another day when there are fewer people"

"no, no I'm sorry. It's just... it had been a very long time since I last skated and I know if I fall it's going to hurt like a bitch, excuse my language. But it is going to hurt ten times worse than it does others and I'm likely to bruise and -why are you smiling. What's so funny?"

Bucky was indeed smiling and laughing a bit at (y/n). In the midst of ranting about her fears, she began to skate she was going at a steady pace as Bucky held her hands loosely.

"Oh my god-"

"now don't panic or get too excited, don't lose focus or don't focus too much just go with the flow," Bucky said. He decided in order to not lose focus to talk. "Why did you think I didn't want you," he asked she looked up confused " at the cabin when you were crying"

"oh... you were avoiding me in the beginning. You didn't want anything to do with me. I know the reason you went on that first date was because of Steve and Sam I figured that was the reason you went camping with me. That, that camping trip was just pity or you just wanted me to answer your questions. And thinking all that and having you make that comment about how beautiful I was... It hurt my feelings. I thought you were using me."

Bucky pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead as they continued to skate "I'm sorry about how I made you feel. I never meant to hurt you. And you're the most beautiful girl I've seen in centuries I don't want and could never want anyone else. You and only you. Forever and Always." Giving a gentle peek the manages to spin her around without either of them falling they laughed as they continue to skate.

Unbeknownst to them, they had gathered an audience a small number of people were watching them. Some whispering how cute they were other how they wished they had what. A few people took pictures and videos which later would become very significant later on. The two didn't care in that ring it was only the two of them dancing on ice. The world around them meant nothing the only thing that mattered was the person their love in their arms.
-

"Can we do this again?" (y/n) asked as she gently kissed him

"How about next Friday?" he whispered against her lips

"I'd like that" They kissed passionately and pulled each other closer. The ding of the elevator doors interrupted them. Last they checked the elevator never made a sound. Friday. "This is my stop" she whispered against his lips "I have to go"

"can I go with you?" she laughed finally pulling away completely

"Bye Bye Bucky"

"Bye bye Alice" then the elevator doors closed sending him away pouting. She laughed. She stumbled through the halls in a blissful drunk state of happiness. Even though she hadn't drunk a drop of alcohol she stumbled like she was in a drunk state of mind. And that's how she looked when she stumbled into her room with a racket startling Steve who was waiting for her. She stumbled in and fell face first into her bed.

"Woah, I didn't think a bar would be the first date," Steve said as he rushed to help her out "are you drunk?"

"no, I'm just really, really, really happy."

"so the date went well I see" he laughed as she looked up blushing and nodded before giggling. This was her real date ever and honestly it couldn't have been any better. It was perfect.
