I open my eyes to see the sky,
Yet no sun, stars, or moon show.
I look up and wonder why,
Then I look around and know.
I'm forever trapped in yesteryear,
A time where all is good or bad.
I'll forever see and ever fear,
For its memories are sad.
I see the loved ones that today are dead.
I see them living, I'm filled with dread.
Next I know I'm next to their death bed,
With horrified thoughts drifting in my head.
I wish I lived in the present,
With past mistakes nowhere near.
But no, all my happiness is spent,
And I'm trapped in yesteryear.
