Isabel's POV
————
I SAT IN Potions Class, distracted (again, why does this keep happening to me?) by someone's foot going up and down repeatedly. I kept staring at it stupidly until I heard Snape say out loud, "We will be making the Draught of Peace, a potion that relieves anxiety with partners." Everybody started cheering and already choosing partners.

"But, I am choosing the partners for you." He continued sternly. Everyone started groaning and slumped back in their seats. Snape started to mention the pairs, "Ron Weasley with Pansy Parkinson, Dean Thomas with Gregory Goyle, Blaise Zabini with Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy with Isabel Coves.."

Wow, just great. I'm being partners with Draco, who's an absolute git! I hesitantly walked over to his station and sat in the stool. "Isabel.." He started to say quietly. "Stop talking Malfoy, just start making the potion." I replied, a little more harsh then I meant for it to be. He looked away from me and started grabbing the ingredients. I added the powdered moonstone and waited for the color to turn green. When it did, I stirred the mixture until it turned blue.

"Hand me more of that moonstone powder, will you?" He asked, staring at me intently. I grabbed a little and handed it to him without speaking one word. "You sure love to talk, don't you?" He gave me a quick little smirk, before returning his attention to the potion. Now, there's the asshole version of Malfoy. "You sure love to push away people who care about you, don't you?" I responded, trying not to lose my calm. He gave me an intense stare, but then looked away. I added syrup of hellebore to the mix, waited for it to turn turquoise then let it simmer.

We were quiet for the rest of time, even though we both worked on the potion efficiently and quickly. In the end, we finished the potion first and it was the best one out of all of them. It wasn't fun "talking" to Malfoy, but at least I'll be getting a good grade.

Draco's POV (short)
————
I walked out of the classroom filled with regret and sadness. I really wanted to apologize to Isabel for what I did, but she wouldn't listen to me. I deserved it though, I was acting like a total idiot and I shouldn't have done that to her. But I wish she knew what was bothering me so much.

Isabel's POV
————
I stood in the Astronomy Tower, staring out the window at all the stars and constellations. I'm not sure quite why I'm so interested in them, I just find them so fascinating. I was so intrigued with the almost transparent clouds to even realize that someone else was in the room with me. "Oh, hi." He said. I turned around to see Marcus O'Malley, who was a 7th year Slytherin.

Every girl thought he was the absolute hottest guy in Hogwarts, and they all practically drooled whenever they saw him. But, I never thought much about him. Only that he's kind of a douchebag, but also kind of cute. He started to say, "I can leave if you want-"

"No, it's fine. You can stay here." I muttered quickly. He walked towards my direction and stood right next to me, staring at the stars. "I never knew you were an astronomy girl Coves." He laughed lightly. "I find them interesting, I suppose." I replied quietly, still distracted by the shimmering constellations. "My name's Marcus." He lended a hand out and I started bursting into fits of laughter. He looked genuinely confused so I tried to explain, "Marcus, you don't need to introduce yourself. Everybody knows who you are."

He rolled his eyes at me then said "I just wanted to be nice." We stood there a little longer just staring at the stars in comfortable silence. I was glad he was giving me some space to think about the night sky. "Can I call you Marcy Malley?" I suddenly blurted out for no reason. "What?" He started laughing at the absurd nickname. "I don't know, I think it's kinda cute." I gave him a small grin. "I guess so Coves." He shrugged his shoulders, returning the grin. "How about we get out of here?" I stared at him curiously. I was interested in him. Not in that way, but in the way where I just wanted to learn more about him and become friends.

He nodded eagerly and we both laughed and talked excitedly the way out of the tower. While we were only a few steps away from the Slytherin dorms, I couldn't help but feel someone staring at me. I looked behind the corner and saw the platinum blonde haired boy quickly running the opposite direction. I shook my head annoyedly, why couldn't he keep his nose out of my business? I tried to ignore it and continued talking to Marcus.

wowie i am so sorry for that short chapter! i have been going through a deep writer's block and for a few days i had no clue what to write but this is what i got. i guess you could say it's just a fill-in chapter, but it did introduce an important character Marcus! i wanted this chapter to focus more on isabel and how she's gaining more confidence in herself not just draco :) but don't worry kiddos next chapter he'll be back
