This book is a continuation of Better With You. If you have not read that before coming here, you will not understand this book. I suggest you read that one before reading this.

Anyways, story starts now.

Elijah's POV

7 years later.

There comes a time when the world becomes quiet, and the only thing left is your beating heart.

I was surprised that my heart still beat at all. I knew for sure that it was only because of her. Because I was still sure that I will see her again one day, and that she still loves me.

Her chocolate skin, her dark brown eyes and pearly white smile never left my mind. It was like it was tattooed there. A smile came to my face just thinking about her. Even after all these years, I was still whipped.

"Yow Eli!"

My head snapped over to the right of my jail cell to the opposite bed to see Raymond looking at me.

"You're thinking about her again, aren't you?"

I chuckled slightly. Raymond could always read people, or maybe I got bad in masking my emotions.

"Yeah. I was."

"Wow. You really are a whipped son of a bitch."he chuckled and passed me a cigarette and a lighter.

"Oh shut up Ray. Love makes you think crazy sometimes and you know that. That's why you're in here isnt it?"I answered him while taking the cigarette from his grasp, prepping it between my lips and lighting it up.

"Yeah. But that was 3 years ago. I'm over it now."he blew the smoke into the air, watching it as it formed rings.

"Love doesn't go away, it only gets stowed away until something reignites it."I did the same thing he did.

"Maybe."

A comfortable silence then fell between us. Each of us not saying a word, only enjoying each other's company and watching the smoke spread through the air.

It was all peaceful until we started hearing heavy footsteps coming our way.

"Shit! It's the guard. Get rid of the cigarettes. Quick!"I whisper yelled to Raymond, throwing my cigarette on the ground and stepping on it. Raymond doing the same.

Once we've did that, we swept them under our beds and acted nonchalant.

"Hey! Dipshits!"

We both looked up to see the guard standing at the jail bars with his baton in hand.

"Have you two been smoking?"he glared at us, or should I say me.

"Uhm......no?"I hesitantly answered, glancing at Ray to see him already looking at me.

His glare got more intense, him somehow making it look like he was glaring into my soul.

"Don't you f**king lie to me. I don't get paid to listen to you lie."he seethed.

I watched him unhook the bunch of keys from his belt and open the cell. He walked in and stopped right infront of my bed. He raised his finger and pointed at me.

"You. Get your dirty ass up. It's your trial day."he didn't even wait for me to process what he said, he just walked over to me and yanked me off the bed. He lifted my arms and handcuffed them tightly before pushing me towards the exit.

"Do you think you could handle me a little gentler?"I asked him, getting a little agitated.

"I do what the f**k I want so shut the f**k up."he said before grabbing my arm and hauling me out of the cell, pulling me out of the building and towards the court that was conveniently located across the road.
