Iris had just moved to a new town with her family. Herington was a beautiful town. Iris was not disappointed when they arrived. What had most annoyed Iris was moving away from her friends. Having to make new friends is not easy, especially when everyone avoids you. Herington's people avoided Iris and her family, despite her parents having grown up in the town.
There was more about this town. It had four separate schools, which Iris had yet to understand. Iris had asked her parents about the schools, the people, everything. They never gave her an answer. Not a school name, not a story, not a single explanation. The same went for Jackson, her older brother. Usually, the siblings got along very well, but recently Jackson had not uttered a single word to her.
Everyone seemed to know something Iris didn't. Along with the stress of moving, making new friends, and a new life, this pushed Iris to take a long walk in Herington's forest.
