This is Quail, a firescale, and Wrens brother. I have two drawings of him above because animus magic can take away or lessen firescales. The top one is without and the bottom one is with.

Quail got the better end of the stick compared to his brother. He has a venom barb though the venom is no longer poisonous it's boiling hot due to Quail having firescales the liquid of cooled can still get a dragon nauseous if in the blood stream but is not fatal. Though his firescales are not as hot as Perils due to sandwing genes he can still leave a burn if you touch him too long. He can breathe fire.

He is assumed dead by his father and mother, his brother Wren on the other hand believes he may have survived. Survived what? Hatching, and his mother accidentally dropping him off a cliff. But the mother has a reason for dropping him and technically abandoning him but is simply happy one of her children survived.

Here's a summary, the eggs were hatching in the Sky kingdom. The mother a Sandwing believed that the dragonets would look like Skywings because the egg was bright red and it would be easier to hide in one of the many caves rather than in a bare desert. She was mostly wrong, the dragonets look more like Sandwings other than colors. They hatched. She picked up Quail first and held him toward the sky sort of to say this is a part of who you are, then she noticed him being abnormally hot and began to panic as though something was wrong. Quail the little newly hatched was now bawling and struggling. He stung his mother causing her to drop him. She screamed. He landed in a small pond but they didn't see that. They weren't so high up he plunged through the water to the very bottom of the small pond but he went pretty deep. They searched, couldn't find him, wanted to leave as quick as possible since guards were now searching around for the source of the scream. Quail the little hatching washed ashore and as a firescales he essentially burned the water out of his lungs.

His mother hadn't even named him yet. A mudwing did, he grew up in a group of three mudwings. He ran away at age 2 when the mudwings around age 12 to 13 were in battle and killed. He doesn't remember much other than the time spent after that.
