I Remember Long Ago

Chapter 2

Hello lovelies, for this chapter there's gonna be a change in the real life facts. I love Georgia, she is a really nice and sweet lady. In this story, I'm writing like an alter ego or evil twin sort of personality. Sorry but I hope you enjoy reading it.

Paulette, Sophie and Ruby entered the office and greeted Sam and Fernando.

"Good evening ladies, sit down please" Sam said, Paulette and Sophie sat next to sat while Ruby sat next to Fernando on the other side of the desk.

She took his hand and gave him a sweet kiss on the lips "Hello darling" she said.

"Hi mi amor, Sam told me you were keeping our guest company" he said

"Yes, my name is Paulette. I'm also an old friend of Ruby's so we took the chance to catch up. Imagine my surprise when she told she was married" Paulette joked

"Pauly!!!" Ruby exclaimed but they laughed

Fernando laughed and kissed Ruby "Ok well de have a lot to discuss for the party so we better get started" he said.

They talked decorations, table arrangements, foods, appetizers, guest list until finally reaching entertainment.

"I understand hoy want to have a DJ playing and 4 live performances, correct?" Pauly said to Sophie while writing everything down.

"Yes, Me with the dynamos, those are auntie Tanya and auntie Rosie, my solo at the beginning, my grandparents duet and grandma's solos" Sophie told her

"I'm dying to see you perform, you never sang outside your bedroom when we were little" Paulette told Ruby smiling

Ruby returned the smile but turned serious all of a sudden "You know how that turned out in the end" she said sadly, leaving her family with concerned faces

Paulette reached out to her, taking her "I know, but you made it through. I'm happy for you" she said softly

"But you're in luck, tomorrow we will be rehearsing and you get to see" Ruby teased changing the subject and gave a nervous laugh, Fernando and Sophie looked at each other but decided not to question Ruby's behavior.

"Actually I'm not the only one who's gonna see you tomorrow" Paulette said, she searched her purse and took a card out "My business partner will be coming tomorrow with the rest of the stuff for the party" she said in a shaky voice and handed the card to Sophie.

"Howell and LaPierre events" Sophie read out loud, Pauly instantly looked at Ruby who was slowly standing up with a shock and angry expression on her face.

"Now Ruby listen I-" Pauly started

"No you listen, after I got married to my first husband, I reached out to you. I was not happy and I needed someone to talk to. You never answered any of my letters. Don't come here telling me you stayed because of her" Ruby said 

"I had to!!" Pauly argued "She was just a little girl when you left"

"13 is not a little and you know very well what she put me through. I had to leave to away from mother. will not go through that hell again" Ruby yelled back

"Georganne was a child and was easily manipulated by your mother. I had to stay and prevent it from going worse" Paulette told her

"That's bullshit, I thought you were my best friend and would follow me eventually but I never thought you would betray our friendship for my own sister" she said and stormed out of the room.

"Ruby!!!" Paulette called out, she was about to go after her but Fernando stopped her.

"Don't, better let her cool down" Fernando said, he was very shocked as much as Sophie and Sam. Paulette sat back down on the chair, took a deep breath and groaned in frustration.

"I knew she would react like that, I just thought she would let me explain. Georganne is not what she thinks she is, not anymore at least" Paulette said to them

No one in the room knew how to react. They were clueless about everything which worried them more.
"We didn't even know she had a sister" Sophie said

Pauly looked at them in wonder "Really?" She said

"Ruby never tells anyone about her past, she didn't even tell me when we met back then in Mexico. I got the feeling she was running from something but didn't want to put pressure on her" Fernando told

"Well she was running from someone, her mother" Pauly said, she paused before continuing. The others paying close attention "Her name was Georgia, she was a model. Georgia was a really proud woman but had a rocky career. When she had Ruby and Georganne, she gave it up. Ruby loved to sing but her mother never approved. Always telling her she would never reach the stars or go anywhere. She use to say awful things to Ruby since she was a little girl to keep her from singing. That psychological abuse made her feel ugly and worthless. She cried practically every day and every night. Georgia sculpted Georganne to be the same as her and she also mistreated Ruby even if she was younger than her. We use to sneak out and find places where music played and listened to it. Georgia would find her and beat her up, so did Georganne. When she was 18, Ruby had enough, packed her backs and took the first boat out. Of course I supported her but I couldn't go. By the time Georgia found out, she was already gone."

"Oh wow" Sam said

"Grandma said you could've follow her if you reached out but you said that you had to stay with Georganne" Sophie recalled

"Yes, I feel terrible for it but Gigi was only 13 years old and Georgia easily manipulated her. As she crew older I would go visit her and talk to her about Ruby and all the things we use to do. We were both alone so let's say it was my way of saving her. Gigi met a guy when she was 20 and got pregnant. Georgia threw her out and left her to fend for herself while her boyfriend worked. She didn't know how to take care of herself, let alone a child so I helped her. Through the years all that Georgia had molded fell down and she even felt sorry for how she treated Ruby. Saldly, she had disappeared and we didn't know how to find her. We became friends and eventually business partners in my event planning job. I was a party girl and Ruby was quite a rebel, that gave me the inspiration for my business. We used to have a lot of fun together so those memories are what I tell her sister" Paulette explained

"Oh God, we had no idea grandma had such a hard past. Not even mom knew, that explains so much of why she is how she is. What you are telling us of how grandma was is nothing of what she is now" Sophie said

"I get it, people change after having such a hard time in their life" Pauly said "I need to talk to her, she needs to know W hy I stayed. Even more so if Gigi is coming tomorrow and has no idea Ruby is here" Pauly stood as did the others

"I don't I go, Ruby won't want to see you yet. She can get difficult after a fight but I can make her listen to reason" Fernando said

"Me and Sophie can take you to see the courtyard outside. This way you get ideas for the party" Sam suggests

"That is a great idea" Sophie agreed

Pauly hesitated for a moment but gave in eventually "Ok" She said before turning to Fernando "please tell her I'm sorry"

"I will" Fernando said and they all walked out the office. Sam and Sophie went with Paulette to the courtyard. Meanwhile, Fernando went to find his wife. It was sad that she had to go through all those emotions by herself. He wanted to support her and comfort her. Ruby had to learn open up and explain a lot of things about herself. Fernando thought he knew the love of her life but she was wrong. It was time to let everything out and re visit the past.
