Can joined Sanem in his truck, he smiled at her, checking she was alright and had everything she needed.
C: ''just let me know if you want to stop ok?''
S: ''thank you, I'm alright.'' She answered shyly. She was slightly anxious about the long drive ahead; she was famous for saying silly things at the wrong time and remained silent.
They kept eyeing each other until Can finally dared to speak.
C: ''so we have talked about my travel, what about yours? Anywhere you'd like to go?''
S: ''Galapagos!'' she basically shouted ''humm... my dream is to go to the Galapagos.''
C: ''wow Galapagos! Great spot! Why there?''
Sanem smiled at the thought of those islands, ''I read about them in a book and have been fascinated since then... that's where you can see albatross as well... they are amazing birds, they can fly for days, they have huge wings and... and they keep one lover for their whole life... this is amazing... I think...'' She blushed at her childish excitement.
Can loved everything he had heard and seen, and almost froze at her mention of the albatross, his favourite bird, the one tattooed on his chest... if she knew...
C: ''I've seen one you know... an albatross.''
She smiled at him, her eyes inviting him to elaborate.
C: ''it was majestic, huge and yet so light.''
S: ''I'll see it one day...'' she smiled
C: ''I'm sure you will...''
''I'll take you there'' he thought...
They ended up chatting all the way to her house; they laughed and discussed their favourite dishes. Can felt like he was getting to know her, yet, the mystery of how her mind was working was impenetrable and he loved it; everything she was saying was new and unheard to him.
He was disappointed to have arrived already and parked near her house.
C: ''so this is it! The neighbourhood from your book?''
She smiled, looking around proudly, ''it is!''
C: ''you'll have to show me around?'' he threw her the hook praying she would catch it.
S: ''I can do that, but you know there is not much to do or see here. People would talk about you for days if they saw me walking around with you!''
C: ''is it that bad?''
S: ''it depends... gossip is never a good thing.''
He wholeheartedly agreed. He loved that she was different to anyone he had met and women in the city that he knew, all on diet and after the latest stories...
They were still in the car, silent; none of them wanted to leave the other. Sanem couldn't believe she had not run out of the car, she felt so awkward, yet so attracted.
S: ''Do you want a coffee?'' she basically shouted after seconds of gathering her courage.
C: ''yes!'' he shouted back, ''I mean... sure, yes, I would love that.'' He calmly added.
S: ''drive down and on the left toward the water.''
He followed her instructions and parked. They sat on little wooden benches and tables and ordered tea.
C: ''I thought you wanted coffee?''
S: ''I don't drink coffee, just good old Turkish tea.''
C: ''me too, I miss it when I am overseas.''
