Can and Sanem spent the next hours walking along the city and taking random pictures of the view, the fishermen, the seagulls and the crowd.
He was talking about zooming techniques when he noticed Sanem staring at the ocean; he traced her jawline with his finger down to her chin. She turned her head to him and smiled.
C: ''a penny for your thoughts...''
S: ''I need a new publisher.''
C: ''I am pretty sure publishers will be fighting to have you on their catalogues.''
They kept walking along the water, ''that's the thing Can, I don't want to be just number on a list, I don't want the pressure to produce a book every year...''
He could see she was growing anxious.
C: ''hey?'' he stopped to face her, ''we can find a small publishing house, somewhere more passionate about books than money.''
S: ''really?''
C: ''let me check with Ajda, she is my agent when I am involved in books.''
S: ''you've done more?''
C: ''yeah a few,''
S: ''I should know a lot more people in the industry but...'' she stared at her feet.
C: ''Yigit?''
She nodded.
S: ''he always talked on my behalf... and I am ashamed but I found it easier that way, I should have been more independent.''
C: ''you had no idea Sanem, he was your publisher, it was normal to rely on him for business talks.''
S: ''I guess...'' she was deep in her thoughts again, he sat them on a bench.
S: ''the more I think about the past year, the more I realise he was keeping me a prisoner the whole time. I never, ever was on my own or even spoke on my own behalf. I wish...''
C: ''Sanem!'' he had warned her about what ifs.
S: ''I just wished I had not been so naïve.''
C: ''I love how naïve you are sometimes.'' He kissed her nose and giggled. She playfully slapped his leg.
S: ''maybe I learnt my lesson...''
C: ''no don't! Don't change, don't let this...'' so many words he wanted to use but knew would do her harm, ''... this sick man change the beautiful and generous person you are Sanem. The love you give to... to everyone, no questions asked, there's nobody like you.''
He was so intense, Sanem was a bit caught off but smiled at his compliments. She rested her head on his chest and hugged him.
C: ''You just be you ok?'' and I'll protect you he thought to himself but didn't say so he wasn't sounding like a stalker himself.
S: ''I am pretty sure this is inevitable anyway.'' They chuckled as they went on with their walk.
C: ''Have you been thinking about where you want to live?''
S: ''I have no idea, the farm was so perfect in the nature, by the water... And Miriban...''
C: ''check real estate agencies online, select a few and we can go inspect them.''
S: ''yes, yes I can do that.''
C: ''are you alright staying at your parents in the meantime?''
S: ''I guess... I have nowhere else to go anyway.''
Can gave an offended look and she laughed again.
C: ''you're right, nowhere else to go!''
He picked her up and twirled her around a couple of times. He put her down and hugged her tight.
