It was then that she had truly realised the shit that had been caused."
...
She was right. Millie was right. From the minute Dacre had told her she had, had an odd feeling. Melancholic thoughts twisted throughout her body. She had been ordered to find and kill a man. Yet this man lived in an abode she was very familiar with. His last name wolfhard. There was something distinctive about the name, it rang a bell to Millie's ears but she could just not seem to understand why. So like most people would do, she stopped caring. But, those actions have turned out to be a mistake, as she stood just at the start of the hallway a door number farther along is where the victim would be. She stood contemplating her ideas weapon tightly gripped in her left pocket, if she were to go along with this she'd have to move swiftly. No one was expected to be awake at this time. All clocks reading close to midnight, so she also had to look around as her visibility which is very necessary may be restricted as the apartment is most likely dimly lit.
The girl knew how tough it could be to get Back up after the loss of a loved one and that's exactly why she did what she did. She wanted others to feel her pain and suffering. No it wasn't essential but it's what mad her feel a tinge of her regret disappear, that maybe others will realise just how much they missed out on with which ever relative where to die. Then maybe Millie herself wouldn't feel so guilty for the shit she caused as a child. Yes, she was a good child but she couldn't help but think that her existence her birth caused the pain and suffering from her mother.
The girl was brought back to reality her cheeks stung from the temperature of the hallway as she felt a cold gaze on her body. And perhaps it was that scrutinising gaze felt on the back of her neck causing her hairs to rise or perhaps it was the alcohol in her system from previous hours now slushing hideously in her abdomen but, her adrenaline suddenly had boosted and now nothing was going to stop her from committing the sin that was to take place.
She walked closer towards the room using a bobby pin to unlock the door to the humble abode, you would've thought houses like these would have more protection but you'd be surprised. She slipped through the door which was slightly ajar and closed it behind her gently. When she looked up she saw nothing but a dimly lit room that was massive, she had never seen anything bigger, she never really had noticed the living room size. The room had a generous amount of space with a lot of cheap yet expensive furniture yet right next to the grande piano was a staircase. She had assumed it would lead to the master bedrooms. But the key word was assumed...assumption was not the best option and Millie for sure should've known.
As she ascended the marble staircase she noticed how quiet the second floor of the house was. Everyone asleep she wanted to get this over with. This house the teenage boy that lived within the apartment itself had been kind. He had been patient and understanding enough to have let a stranger stay the night in his house, did he really deserve this ? Millie thought to herself. Millie continued through the house finding what she again assumed was the master bedroom. Upstairs was quiet and all that could be heard was the sound of the clocks which were slowly yet so agonisingly ticking by. There was a door which was slightly ajar maybe by a mere 3 inches. It was just enough to peek into but that wasn't felt necessary by Millie she'd rather close her eyes and proceed with the plan. The floorboards surprisingly didn't create any sound as she thought they would like all households she had accommodated herself. Old houses normally would have worn out foundations leading to the floorboards creating the annoying sound. Millie closed her eyes and she so slowly drew the weapon from within her pocket and exposed it to the residents of the wolfhard household. Her eyes flinched open to make sure for the last time it was definite no one was looking.
Then it occurred to her.
And it occurred to him.
Millie's breath hitched in her throat as she felt the need to suddenly gasp for air, she was standing face to face with that tall lanky figure she by this point knew too well. His hair a mess as if he had just woken up his pyjamas held the scent of fragranced baby wipes.
"Millie what the fuck?"
"Hey finn..."
Millie pleaded that Finn had not seen the weapon as she gently slipped it back into her pocket. How was she supposed to explain what she was doing here now ? This never would've happened if Dacre wasn't so unprofessional about the whole idea, yet again she obliged.
Finn on the other hand had never been more confused in his life. He stared at the girl waiting for the answers to the obvious questions that anyone in Finns position would have been thinking. And so she did she answered all his unnecessary questions. He proceeded to offer millie anything to eat or drink in which she said yes to. As Finn went downstairs to prepare her requested slice of toast she slipped her weapon out of her pocket and hid it in the cupboard of Finns on suit.
After a short while of waiting Finn appeared with the warm slices of toast sprinkled in sugar.
"Who eats bread with sugar?"
The girl questioned confused out of her mind.
"It's normal for me, have you never tried it."
Millie rolled her eyes as the purpose of her question being asked was not for an answer, it was rhetorical.
"So, how has it..."
Finn went to ask only to be rudely interrupted by Millie, again.
"A lot of shit has gone down ok."
"Oh ok."
Finn said almost disappointed he didn't know the simplest thing about this girl and she wouldn't even tell him what had been going on.
"Millie, if you're staying here I have to know more about you I mean..."
Finn pauses he didn't know how to finish his sentence only looking up to see the petite girls round and soft eyes resembling one thousand pools of chocolate.
"My life...it's not worth knowing about Finn."
She whispered more to herself than Finn.
"But Millie I have to..."
Finn was cut off.
"It's not worth it."
She tried to smile but she couldn't, she wasn't use to it, she never had been.
"Can we just...go to bed, please ?"
She said wearily no effort left to even speak.
"Ok I can stay here or take the couch downstairs it's up to you..."
"Stay...please."
"Ok."
Finn blushed his cheeks turning deep red and so he quickly sprinted to turn off the light, and Drew the covers towards him for Millie to get into. She lay flat on her back staring at the ceiling and Finn brought the covers over her tanned figure and he then joined her on the other side of them bed underneath the warm blankets.
It had barely been 15 minutes and both teens lay awake.
"Are you awake."
Finn whispered turning to see Millie wide awake.
"Yea."
Finn answered back.
"Mee too."
"Well obviously, Millie snapped back."
Finn swore this girl was bipolar or some shit her attitude could change in under a minute.
"Sorry keep your pants on."
Finn retorted. There was a silence for a minute and the tension could be felt in the cold air of the room.
"I...I have to go."
Millie then said whipping the covers off of her and quickly putting her converse on before walking briskly towards the door.
"Why ? Was it something I said I'm sorry Millie."
"Finn, it's not you it's..."
Millie thought of what to say careful not to accidentally expose herself about her original plan, she couldn't bring herself to even believe she was about to do that to one of the wolfhard residents, they didn't deserve it in her opinion.
"It's...my mum she's probably worried sick."
Millie smiled to try and emphasis her lie, then left the apartment without another word. She passed the doorman as she always does. His friendly smile returned and continued towards her car. She couldn't help but have a natural instinct kick in and feel she had left something of great importance. She was yet to find out when she will be drawn to great danger.
