Its been a week since they came back from the expedition. The days were already far into December, and the outside was covered in a white blanket of snow. Sam couldn't bring herself yet to look at the journal they found. It was time to rest now as they celebrated the mission success and the few days they had off.

Everyone was busy at the HQ. The Captain and Commander were finishing the last paperwork for the year. The cadets were busy cleaning out stables and dorm rooms. Soon enough they were all outside getting ready to complete their tasks at hand. Of course, Sam was behind it all. She made a group for getting a tree. Had some girls getting some ornaments and others were sorting food and found a place to set it up in the hall. She also had a hidden agenda trying to find the perfect gift for that special someone.

Sam made her way over to the commander's office she knew she would also find her captain there. She knocked on the door and entered when she was granted permission. The office seemed warm as the fireplace had a wood burning in it. Her eyes then fell on Erwin. She was shocked to see how much weight he lost. His skin pale as the snow outside. "C-commander? Are you okay?" She asked as she felt concerned she could see he wasn't well at all. He nodded giving her an assuring smile she returned it with half a smile not able to shake the feeling of unrest in her heart. " I was wondering if I could steal both of you guys. We are going to just have some fun outside. Girl versus boys all-out snowball fight..."

"You two don't have a choice.." Hange said as she popped up her head from behind the scarlet haired girl. " We are all joining so lift your behinds" Erwin gave a small smile as he got up and made his way to Hange. " ugh... your such a brat," Levi said as he followed Erwin. Sam half linked her arm with his as they went outside. The snow was slowly falling snowballs already flew all over the show. Sasha and Krista together with some females were busy making a fort. Connie and Jean on another end with other males doing the same.

"We can't always be serious.." Hange said with one of her crazed giggles. Sam couldn't help but to laugh as well. " So what are we waiting for?" Levi asked as he bent and picked up a snowball. Both Sam and Hange only left footprints as they ran over to the rest of the party. Giggles and snowballs flew through the air. More snow fell as the day went by. Sam was busy making more snowballs and collecting snow. As Krista protected the base. Sasha was fooling around trying to get some of the guys off guard.

" Okay so collect all the snowballs you can girls. We will take out Jean in the east corner and Connie in the west. Levi and Erwin are somewhere on the north side. We don't know how big the fort is they built." All agreed as they made their way to Connie first. Hange covered herself with snow and crawled in the open. Sasha hiding behind small barricades she made. They had him cornered and before he could turn around both Hange and Saha jumped up and threw him with a snowball. One connected his chest and the other his bald head. He gave a chuckle as he raised his hand showing his out.

Sam and Krista were onto Jean they slowly made their way to him. Sam throwing a snowball at his feet that made him turn towards her. He smirked half getting ready to hit Sam with a snowball. But the sudden mush sound to his back made him drop it. "I got you," Krista said as she laughed out loud. Jean dropped to his knees. "I see a bright light... I'm too young to die..." he said dramatically. Sam couldn't help but to laugh as Krista joined in. " We must look for the Captain and Commander.," Krista said to Sam before they heard Hange.

"Erwin!" She yelled as she ran over to him. He was down on his knees as he coughed. His blood stained the ice white snow. The Cadets gathered as the short Caption was there within seconds of Hange yelling. "Erwin.," Hange said again and fell to her knees in front of him. He caught his breath before he coughed again. The blood becoming darker as it looked like he coughed up something odd. It seemed bloody and looked like it could be apart from something inside his body. Hange felt out of herself she could feel her body froze as she helped him get up her hands covered in his blood. She felt the tears in her throat but she didn't dare to let them spill. "Hange we must get the Commander to the infirmary," Levi said as he helped her.

They all waited to hear how the commander was doing as Hange phased up and down the hallway, in front of the infirmary she looked worried and totally out of herself. It felt like they waited forever before the saw Erwin and a Doctor appear. Hange already by his side as soon as he appeared the doctor handed her some medication. " Here make sure he drinks it three times a day. It seemed like he caught bronchitis from all the early early morning cold air. And make sure he gets lots of rest. " Hange nodded relieved that it was something that could be cured. " Don't worry..." Hange pointed her index finger at him. "Hush... I will make sure you're okay you're not getting away from your baby sitter" she scoffed and turned towards the rest of the cadets. " Please, guys go enjoy. Your Christmas eve" Hange said with a smile " I have to make sure Commander Smith is okay" Hange then turned to the Commander and slowly made her way with him to his dorm.

Sometime later everyone was seated in the hall with full plates of delicious foods. They chatted happily as they enjoyed the festive season. All of them still worried about their commander. The soon came to an end. Sam found herself seated outside as she watched the snow fell. Her fellow insomniac sat next to her. She turned her gaze to him as she handed him a small gift box. "Happy birthday Caption" she whispered as she heard a soft "brat" escaping his mouth. He opened it slowly to reveal a rare black tea packaging. He only saw this when he was a small child all those years ago. " How did you find this? " He asked as he gave a deep smell into the box.
"I have my methods," Sam said with a smile for a second the Caption also smiled and looked up at her. "Thank you... I love it" he replied. They sat outside for quite some time before they realized how cold it really was.

She sat on her bed, ever since they agreed to be together they felt more awkward she heard a knock on the door and granted him permission to enter. He came in with a tray and two cups of freshly made tea. He held it so she could take one and placed the tray on the table also taking his. "You're sharing your tea with me?" Sam asked as she took a sip. Levi nodded "Yes. After all, it is Christmas" he said as he made himself comfortable. Again they sat in silence as they sipped their tea. Her eyes started to feel heavy as she finished her tea. She placed the cup on the tray on the table and laid back. Next moment she knew Levi hovered above her. "Merry Christmas brat" he leaned in and kissed her forehead, and covered her with a blanket. "Sleep tight.." she pulled him down into a soft kiss as she lingered. His normal earthy smell hung on him, she pulled away. " Don't go.," she whispered as he nodded and then got comfortable next to her for their attempt to sleep.
