Chapter 14: Formation and...Home?

Me, Neo and Noire were on the elevator to the headmasters office, it was the day after the dance, so this was most likely about Cinders infiltration into the CCT tower, the doors opened to reveal Professors Ozpin and Goodwitch, General Ironwood and Penny

"They.were.here, Ozpin they were here!" The General said, his voice raised, I spoke up

"Yes General, now they're gone, the damage is done, and it's all gone according to plan." I said in a stern voice, the General turned to me as we walked forward

"Why didn't you stop them! You knew they were going to be there, so why didn't you stop them!" Now it was my turn to raise my voice

"Because General! By stopping them right there, we alert them that we know what's going on, they could change their plans entirely and everything I know will be useless!" I said, the General sighed at this and put his gloved hand against his head

"Ozpin, could you just call Ruby so we can be done with this?" He said, turning to Ozpin, to his annoyance I spoke again

"There won't be a need, I can give the report." Ironwood was about to complain but Ozpin raised his hand

"Go on Mister L/N." I smiled and began

"The attacker wore a black suit which covered their features and a mask making it difficult to identify them, their Semblance was manipulation of glass, she tended to use a bow and arrow in her attacks and had embedded Dust into her clothing, she didn't speak much but let slip that they had a base somewhere southeast of Vale, to which I can confirm." The General seemed to be pleased at this

"Finally, some good news, let's send as many troops as we can to the southeast and wipe out any enemy we find!" He said looking out of the window behind Ozpins desk, Noire seemed to agree with this, Neo and Penny looked slightly nervous, Glynda however got angry

"Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!? You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring D-" Ozpin quickly interjected

"Glynda." He said, sounding dissapointed, me and Neo almost burst out into laughter, Noire stopped us with an elbow to our sides

"She's right, as much as I too want to end this situation once and for all, we must remember that this may go beyond Vale, beyond Beacon, and if this is truly part of some master plan, which we know not the final move, we mustn't be so bold, nor can we risk the spread of panic, that's also why Mister L/N didn't interfere last night." I could feel the anger coming from Ironwood, he turned from Glynda to face Ozpin

"I have served you faithfully for years, but if you mean to tell me your plan is to merely hold the defenses, and wait-" Ozpin suddenly stood up from his chair, raising his right hand to emphasise his next point

"It is not!" He said, he calmed once again

"You're a General James, so tell me, when you prepare to go to war, which do you send in first? The Flag-bearer? Or the Scouts?" This time I spoke up

"Neither." Everyone turned to look at me

"Send the Spy, no-one can give you more accurate information about an enemy, than the enemy itself, they can easily weave deceit amongst troops, even causing the enemy to destroy itself from within, the war could be won before a single Scout sets foot on a battlefield." Ozpin seemed slightly take aback but smiled at my answer, he sat back down in his chair 

"Let's put this matter on hold for the time being, now then, Mister L/N, the General has finished writing up the transfer papers for Miss Polendinas transfer to Beacon, I just want to know, are you sure you want to make this decision?" He said, I smiled
