Everything in my life was great, ya know? My dad was a scientist, my mom his closest partner. Their newest project was a universal teleporter. With a few commands and the push of a button, it should open a portal to another universe. Word got out of their growing accomplishment, and soon there were those who wanted the teleporter for their own. It was completed the day my life went to hell. Operational, too.
Our house was stormed by a rogue gang of scientists. They set fire to our house as they realized they would never get their hands on the notes that created the device, let alone get it. As our house burned around us, I was sent into the portal, to an unknown universe, leaving my home forever.
