Some days, Jean wishes he was blind.

Or dead, but that would be of little use to anyone.

So would being blind, but if he was blind, he couldn't see a lot of the things he never wants to see again. If he was blind, he wouldn't have to see colors, and Jean hated colors. (Except black- the color of Mikasa's hair).

Jean hated the color red. It reminded him too much of blood, it reminded him too much of fire and hatred and anger and pain.

Jean was really starting to hate that color of green: the color that whipped through the sky as the blood of his comrades rained down, the color of his cloak that reminded him of all the pointless sacrifices made by selfless, stupid soilders. He really, really hated that color.

But, not as much as he hated the color white. He only had one reason to hate the color white.

The color white, the color of Marco's shroud as it burned in the red flames, underneath the green flag, so awfully pale that it only reminded Jean of how empty everything really was.

He really hates colors.
