Chapter 6:

We focus in on the traveling trio as they wander about the unfamiliar streets.

(Y/N)'s POV

The excitement had dimmed down to nothing as we quietly walked by the highway, nobody wanting to admit we were terribly lost.

Looking down towards Markl, I saw that he had a grumpy facial expression and was walking quite sluggish.

"What's wrong Markl?" I asked him.

He stopped walking entirely before answering.

"We've been walking for hours! all we've done is buy a couple of boring things and then keep walking! My feet hurt, and I'm tir-" He complained before being cut off by Howl who kneeled in front of him.

"I'm sorry Markl, I should've taken your small feet into account" He told Markl while laughing.

While Markl stomped around shouting about having manly feet, I took the opportunity to ask Howl if he knew where we were going.

"...Howl do you know where we're going? We have been walking for a while..." I questioned him.

"Of course I do, it's just past those trees, I heard a couple and their daughter talking about an abandoned amusement park so I thought we'd go there" Howl replied.

"An abandoned amusement park? I've never read anything about one of those..." I thought out loud.

"All the more fun to find out then!" Howl happily beamed at me, as he placed his arm around my shoulder.

Slightly blushing from his gesture, I turned towards the grumpy looking Markl.

"Markl, if your feet are tired I could carry you until we reach our destination? Would you like that?" I offered towards Markl.

"W-What? No! I can walk perfectly fine, my feet aren't tired at all, I'm not tired either..." He spoke defiantly as he walked ahead of Howl and I at a fast pace.

Chuckling at his act of manliness, we kept walking for only a few minutes, then we were surrounded in dense trees, the beautiful sounds of nature surrounding us.

We had been walking down an overgrown path of dirt, seeming to have not been walked on in a while.

"Master Howl, look at those little houses!" We, Howl and I, heard Markl shout a little ways ahead.

Looking towards what he was looking at, I gasped and lightly jogged towards him.

"They're shrines!" I told him excitedly, bending down to see them better.

"Shrines?" He asked, as Howl came up behind us.

"Yes, some people believe little spirits live in them. I happen to be one of those people" I explained to him.

"Heh, the spirits seem to be in our favor on this trip. I think I see something up ahead, why don't you two run and see, hm?" Howl said as he pointed up ahead.

"Really? Finally! Maybe there's somthing to eat" Markl shouted excitedly before running ahead.

"H-Hey wait up! Don't run too fast or you'll trip!" I yelled out, quick to follow him, as Howl jogged behind me.

Running down the overgrown path, avoiding the low-hanging tree branches, we came across a small clearing, a small two-sided statue greeting us.

Looking past the small statue, there was a large tunnel entrance covered in chipping red paint.
