Of love and loss

In a year
Or maybe two,
I hope to still be
Next to you.

We’d sit by the window,
Watching outside
As our children play
Side by side.

A sweet symphony
Would play just for us,
A tune that I love,
As you did thus.

Our symphony, however
Plays the saddest song.
For all that was right,
Went horribly wrong.

The song that rings
Is one of your own,
A promise unkept:
“Don’t Let Me Go”.

It’s not the same
Without your voice.
I’d bring you back,
If I had the choice.
