Theme Song: Seungjun - Still Waiting For You
________________"Where were you?"
"Stuck in a hotel room."
"What? How?"
"Long story." I walk over to the kitchen and pour myself a glass of water. The memory of last night is still fresh within my conscious.
"Mia?" Rose raises a brow at me but I am in no mood to explain the reasons for my long disappearance.
"When are we leaving?" I ask.
"Soon," Rose touches my arm. "Did anything. . . happen to you?"
I shake my head. She scrutinises me for a moment then leaves. I exhale a deep sigh, remembering the events that occurred last night.
His scent, his mere presence. It is all so overwhelming all at once. I don't want to breath him in, I don't want to lean on him. I sniff the sorrow away and remove myself from his embrace.
I know he sees my tears, but I stand strong. Maybe I should just let it all go, to just be open to these blossoming feelings. I open my mouth about to say something when he speaks first.
"I'm sorry." He straightens himself. "I-I was out of line."
I shake my head but he carries on.
"I shouldn't be doing things like this." He says, although it sounds more to himself than me. "You're right."
"Right?" I question. "About what?"
"It's best we steer clear from each other." He avoids my eyes. "I don't want to cause you any more trouble."
Saying those words every time, whether it be in my head or out loud seemed harmless. It was just a defense for myself. Now, however, hearing them uttered from his lips stings. My chest tightens and I stop him before he breaks my heart all over again.
"Yes." I nod. "It's not good for your career either." I bite on my bottom lip, not hard enough to pierce but enough to help me turn away. "I'm going to sleep, you should stay here."
I look at the glass of water in my hand. This is what I wanted. This is what was supposed to happened. Forget each other. But why do I feel so shattered and hurt about it? Why does it sadden me so much?

I look at my reflection in my full length mirror. It is still Summer break but days later from the weekend vacation at the beach resort. My skin has gotten quite pale lately, I frown, no wonder my friends kept worrying about me. I look sickly. My cellphone rings on my desk indicating an incoming call. I look at the unknown number that flashes on my screen and hesitate a second before answering it.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Park Eun?" It is the instructor for the practical classes, Mr Jo. "It's Mr Jo, from the academy."
"Uh, yes, Mr Jo." Why would he be calling me? "Is something the matter?"
"Well I could suppose it weighs depending on your answer."
My answer?
"I have been in contact with the Korea National University Of Arts and they will be hosting an annual gala for their music graduates. It is a small event, however quite a lot of prestigious people attend it."
I breathe through the cellphone, not knowing what to say just yet.
"I put word in to the event manager of the occasion about you and your exceptional talent with the piano. It would be quite an opportunity for you to perform there on opening night."
I gasp, not sure how to respond. The excitement fills me in seconds. Me, playing at The Korea National University Of Arts. It is a rare opportunity indeed.
I am about to answer him when realisation hits me. I cannot play. "Mr Jo, it is very kind of you to offer me this opportunity but—"
"This will secure you a great chance of being accepted into the university with a full scholarship, do not give an opportunity like this up Miss Eun."
I sigh, although not loud enough for him to hear over the phone. He is quite right though, if I don't grasp this chance now, who knows when I will be given it again?
I take a deep breath before I say the words. "I would gladly accept the invitation sir."
Later during the day I get a visit by Jeff. He looks the same as he always does, fashionably dressed, hair styled and not to forget his usual idiotic smirk.
"It's good to see you looking as conceited as ever." I joke.
His smirk grows even wider. "I'm just feeling really happy today." He walks further into my room. "How about we go out for some bibim naengmyeon?"
"If you're treating?" I shrug. "Why not?"
The atmosphere of the restaurant Jeff takes us to is quite cozy, despite the humid weather, it gives off an authentic yet antique feeling.
"So," I raise my brow at him. "Are you going to keep smiling like a fool or tell me what's gotten you so happy?"
He rolls his eyes. "When will you ever be a little excited for me as well?"
"I am excited." I raise my brows in protest. "It's just more subtle."
"Yeah, yeah." He smiles. "Anyway, so I've been doing some research." His voice becomes serious. "I've been in contact with my mother's sister, my aunt."
"What?" I am surprised and happy at his discovery. "That's great Jeff." I smile at him, genuinely happy for him. "How has it been? What is she like?"
"She looks just like her." He smiles, a distant look in his eyes. "The resemblance is uncanny but their personalities." He chuckles. "They're polar opposites, where my mother was the shy quiet one, she is the jovial outgoing type."
"I'm glad you're doing this," I sincerely say. "I'm happy for you."
"I have you to thank." He says. "You're always the one who encourages me."
"What are friends for?" I smile. "I myself, have some news as well."
"Spill then?"
"I was invited to The Korea National University Of Arts to perform." I exhale. "To play the piano."
Instead of the joy I was expecting his face is clouded with worry. "But—"
"I can do this." I assure him. "It's not like my hands are still broken. I can play, I just need to practice again."
He frowns but quickly diminishes it. "Whatever you choose to do, I'll support you." He smiles.
