i feel like a new man

that's what donghyuck feels.

all i need is a new car,
a new watch?
some new glasses?

he's been so full of energy since he got home. donghyuck can't help but feel like this was right. even if he knew deep down it wasn't.

donghyuck's been tossing and turning trying to think why this happened. does mark really like him? is he getting used? are they confused?

he can't even text mark, donghyuck still doesn't have him number. they don't follow each other on social media either. mark promises it's to keep donghyuck safe.

donghyuck just wonders what mark's hiding.

there's secrets in everything.

"you're pretty, lee donghyuck." it echoes in donghyuck's mind. you're pretty.

mark had said this when they first met. donghyuck was walking home and noticed mark lived surprisingly close to him.

when mark had spoke, donghyuck was scared. he was scared he was gonna get beat up, scared he going to get spat on, but neither happened.

instead, mark placed a hand on donghyuck's cheek. donghyuck stiffens in fear but mark reassured him that he won't hurt the younger.

donghyuck felt strange. the two parted ways.

since then, they've had this weird relationship. touchy and clingy but only in private. donghyuck's friends don't know. donghyuck's family don't know either.

when the school day starts the two are strangers. donghyuck doesn't mind.

they're barely friends but they're still so close. they know nothing about each other. donghyuck doesn't know mark's birthday or his favourite colour.

why is donghyuck so scared? he's so scared of everyone finding out about him and mark. friends don't make out at each other's houses on a friday night.

donghyuck gets more scared as the night rolls on.

it's 3:30 am and donghyuck is staring at the bruises on his knees. he feels so lonely. he has all these people around him but no real connection. he has no one he can tell all of his secrets to. donghyuck knows the secrets keep him safe.

he falls asleep with tears brimming his eyes, he tries to dream of a life where he can be free, a life where there's no secrets, a life where donghyuck can be donghyuck.

donghyuck doesn't remember his dreams that morning. to him, it's proof that it's not possible.
