Delta's POV

We just stood there. I was still shocked that Astrid knew about Hiccup and wasn't sure how I hadn't realized it yet. Finally, Astrid broke the silence.

"Delta stop protecting me. It's just Fishlegs he's not going to hurt us. Also, we can trust him he was his best friend, after all."

I was startled. I was protecting her? When I looked back at Astrid my tail was indeed curled around her protectively. Oh.

I quickly changed back into a human. "Sorry."

"That's okay."

"Fine, you know what I'll let you come along just this once," I said to Fishlegs. As he opened his mouth I quickly continued. "But, if you ask any questions about the shifting, or tell anyone what you've seen so far tonight, or what you will see. I will come find you and fly you up to the top of the tallest tree that I know of and leave you there. Understand." The last part wasn't really a question but a statement. He gulped.

"Understood."

"Good, then let's go find him."

"Who's 'him'?"

His question was met by silence.

20 minutes later

I had followed Hiccup's scent all the way here, to the cove.

Astrid ran into the cove, "Thank, Thor. He's all right." I had to admit I echoed the sentiment.

Fishlegs was staring at Hiccup. "I've never seen this one before. I mean he doesn't have Toothless's dark gray spots and he doesn't have the dark gray stripe down his spine like Streak's. And he's definitely not Frost see he's more like the opposite of Dawn. Look the tail is light gray at the bottom and gets darker towards the top. Actually, he looks a lot like you in your Night Fury form Delta, but you have some light gray spots on your wings as well."

I shifted back. "We need to tell him. Don't we?" I asked Astrid.

"Probably. I mean he already knows half of the truth."

"True. So, umm, Fishlegs we kind of need to tell you something."

"Okay?"

"So, uhh. You don't..." I was interrupted by Moon jumping out and tackling Fishlegs to the ground and growling in his face.

"Leave my brother and sister alone!"

"Moon, calm down! It's Fishlegs."

"What? No, he's not!"

"Yes, he is." She looked at him closer.

"Oh my gosh, he is. I'm so sorry! You've changed so much."

"What is he? She? Saying?"

"Moon said, 'Leave my brother and sister alone.' And then I told her 'Moon calm down. It's Fishlegs'. And then she said 'What? No, he's not!'. And I told her 'Yes, he is'. And Moon said,'Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry. You've changed so much' and started licking you."

"Wait, Moon? Is Hiccup okay? I haven't heard from him in months!"

"Yes, it's Moon and as Delta was saying before Moon attacked you. Hiccup is right beside you and is the reason why we came here in the first place."

"Wait, so let me get this straight. Hiccup finally came back. He can turn into a Night Fury. He met you and Delta. Moon is now Delta's and Hiccup's sister. And Hiccup didn't tell me he was here."

"Yep, you've pretty much summed it up," Astrid said.

"I'm going to get him out of the ropes do either of you guys want to help."

"I feel like you two need to talk, alone. And I should probably head back, but I promise I won't tell anybody."

"I'll stay. Bye Fishlegs."

I watched Fishlegs walk out of the cove. We started cutting the ropes off.

After a while, I asked, "So, how long have you known that Hiccup was here?"

"The day you came back. And you don't have to explain to me anything Hiccup told me everything."

"Really? That long? How?"

"Yes, it was that long. I decided to follow you because you were acting very suspiciously. Hiccup saw me right away."

I nodded and because Hiccup's words about Astrid were still in my head I said, "Hey look. I'm sorry for the way I treated you before. I wasn't very nice. And you deserve to go against the Nightmare. If you forgive me, can we try to be friends? I would like it if we were."

She looked at me. "Really? Do you really mean that you're sorry? Do you really want to be my friend? Because if this is just a ploy so that you can hurt me then I will tell Stormfly to hurt you."

I knew that Stormfly probably wouldn't hurt me but... "I do really mean it. I really do want to be your friend and I am sorry."

Her smile was answer enough.

You were right, Hiccup. I just needed to give her a chance

"You know what, Astrid. I still can't believe you've known Hiccup for so long. I mean how did he keep it a secret that you were seeing each other?"

"I honestly, have no idea. I mean he mostly knew when you might be around so I would visit when you weren't here. But, besides that, I don't know."

"Do you know why?"

"Maybe... Because it would become too complicated. I mean you didn't really like me, he knew that. Everybody knew that. That's the only reason I can think of. So, you'll have to ask him when he wakes up." That is if he ever wakes up. What am I thinking? Of course, he'll wake up. Won't he?

"You know, Astrid. You could learn dragonease."

"Really!? You'll teach me."

"No." The look on her face was so sad that I quickly said, "What, I mean is that you can't teach it. It's just something that comes with a strong bond with a dragon. You have to want to understand them. And then you have to believe that you can. If you don't want it or you don't believe it, it's not going to happen. Sometimes, it takes a while for it to happen. Sometimes, it happens right away. Just be patient."

"That sounds cool. Okay, Moon, do you see any injuries that we missed?"

Moon shook her head so that Astrid would understand.

"Good. Then I'm going to catch some fish and sleep. Would you like some Delta? Moon?"

We both shook our heads.

Astrid kept glancing back at Hiccup as if making sure that he wouldn't disappear on her or suddenly start dying. The tenth time she did this I finally lost it.

"Astrid, he's not going to disappear, or die. He's fine." She looked at me as if she'd been surprised I noticed her glancing at him. And then her cheeks flushed red.

Oh. Ohhhh! That makes more sense. She's in love with him.

"Astrid, oh Thor, how do I say this? Umm... You seem to be really... Close, with Hiccup."

Her cheeks got redder. "Umm, yeah. He's my boyfriend."

"What!? Really? He never said!"

"Really? I thought that was something you told somebody before they knew you were hanging out together. Not after."

I burst out laughing, with her. "Okay, okay. I get it. You're right."

"Woah, are you okay? I've never heard you say that. Maybe..." She said casting me a grin. "I need to give you some of the herbs I have for Hiccup." That made me laugh as well.

"Did anyone ever tell you, how funny you are?" She smiled at me. That made me feel good. My first friend.
