This is my entry for the LGBTQ+ songfiction contest. A 5K word prompt to tell a story based on a song. I chose Nights Like This by Kehlani because it's so beautiful.
As always, this story is... attached to some really raw emotions for me. It comes with some heavy memories of heavy feelings, some late nights spent with my fingers hovering over a contact, some regrets that will probably never go away, some exploration that helped me understand my own sexuality, and some really, really, really good moments of finding love.
I spent a long time being told that what I was feeling was wrong. I don't feel like that anymore, and I don't want anyone to ever feel like I did.
