X Marks the Spot

All this time, I thought the world was hectic
because that is how it's portrayed.
Chaos,
descending destruction on city streets,
everyone
fighting for their side, good or bad,
growing anxious, angrier, more antagonistic each day.
Here's a thought:
I'm not in it for the battles.
Just do what I've done, take your step back,
keep calm as you walk away from the city-
like an ember in the darkness-
miraculously finding your way to the forest.
Now, you sit in nature
one second, minute, hour of tranquility
prospering in the greenery,
quite free from the violent scenery.
Reach out a hand,
silky stems sway in the wind, forgotten lyrics to a familiar verse,
the flowers whisper for your touch.
Unrestrained, you listen to their pleas.
Vibrant,
wonders of the wilderness calm your fears
X marks the spot where
you will always dry your tears.
Zinnias, sapphire skies, and sunshine banish that chaotic anxiety.
