Men Of War

When they go out
They hear goodbyes
They hear their mothers cry
For they are off to war
Their loved ones
Are left behind

When they get to the station
One with wounded soldiers
They are reminded
That this is war
They see an empty bed
With blood stained sheets
Nobody said it was this way

They told Mum six months
Now it's been twelve
Longer then promised
They think to themselves
This is not what I wanted

When they go home
They think of those who died
They see a child
Now four
Run into his father's arms
They see tears of joy
For they are home from war.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: I wrote this originally to be a song.  I had to change parts of it in order for it to look right.  Sorry if it's a little choppy.  I literally can not read this without the tune playing in my head.
