Lines and rhymes

I seek

I came to meet you last night
I was perched on your rail
And though I didn't really see you,
I knew you were around
I knew, just like I know my own name
Just like i know my left from right
Just like I know the day from the night

So, I sat on that rail
And I uttered the words you taught me
I was a parrot
Repeating the words
which my master taught me
I said all of them
Or at least tried to
I tire my best
You taught me to say this when I want
I said all that
I asked you for what I want
In the vocabulary you gave me
the very words you bestowed upon me

So now, today since then
I sit, waiting
To see if my prayer is acceptable
To see if I need to amend
Too see if I did something wrong
To fix it, if I did do something wrong
I await my gift
I await my prize
The one I asked for
And I'll do anything for you
So that I get gifted
By you...
