Jennie was definitely not okay. She locked herself up for two whole days. Not eating or drinking or even using the toilet. Irene thought it would be fine to give her some space and time so she didn't disturb her but she felt things went wrong when Jennie didn't come out from the room at all.

Irene went over and knocked at the door, nobody answered. She knocked again and called:

"Jennie? Open up, or at least reply me"

Again there was no answer. Irene knocked a little harder and called Jennie's name again but still Jennie didn't reply. Irene was too worried that she went to fetch the spare key and unlocked the door.

It was noon but it was dark in there when Irene opened the door. The curtains were closed, the lights were off and it was freezing cold inside, the air conditioner was adjusted to the coolest temperature. Irene shivered suddenly when she was suddenly exposed to the temperature. She saw Jennie lying on the bed, with no blankets on top, and Jennie was obviously shivering.

"Jennie?" Irene called out

Again there was no reply. Irene walked over and saw Jennie's eyes closed, but Irene couldn't tell if she was sleeping or was just closing her eyes. Irene brushed over Jennie's hair and it revealed Jennie's swollen right cheek, it was all bruised up now and it looked horrible. Irene gently touched Jennie's face and found out that her face was freezing cold. She could also obviously see Jennie's tear mark at her face.

Irene frowned and took the control of the air conditional and was about to turn it off when Jennie mumbled:

"Don't"

Hearing Jennie's soft voice, Irene leaned over and asked:

"What?"

"Don't turn it off" Jennie said

"But you're freezing, it's a suffer" Irene said

Jennie shook her head and mumbled:

"I need this to feel alive"

Jennie's words shattered Irene's heart, she couldn't stand Jennie's behaviour anymore.

"You have to stop being like this any more" Irene softly said

Jennie finally turned her head to Irene and asked:

"How long had it been?"

"Two days" Irene replied

Jennie went back staring at the ceiling and mumbled:

"Why is time so slow? It felt like eternity."

"Get up now, I'll cook you some food" Irene said

Jennie didn't agree nor disagree, she just stared right at the ceiling as if she heard nothing.

"Jen, let's go" Irene softy said again

Still, Jennie ignored her. Irene turned off the air conditioner hoping it would get Jennie talking to her, but she was wrong, Jennie took a glance at her then slowly closed her eyes still not saying anything. Irene sat by Jennie's side and softly brushed her hair away, she softly pressed Jennie's swollen cheeks and asked:

"Is this painful?"

Jennie slowly shook her head, the pain was nothing compared to the pain in her heart. Irene patted Jennie's body hoping it would soothe her down. She was thinking what to do next when Jennie suddenly called:

"Hyun"

"Hmm?" Irene hummed in response

"Why is my existence bringing so much sorrow?" Jennie softly asked
