ELLE'S POV:
The storm and the two rabbits faded away behind us as we tried to relax ourselves on the ship. Trying to mellow myself down, I pulled out a little book to read about the dangers of the seas. Elijah noticed me reading the book and curiously tapped me on the shoulder.
Elijah: Hey, Elle, whatcha looking at?
Me: I'm just rereading my dangers of the seas book. Wanna hear some? Besides this is a weird place.
Elijah: Uh, sure.
He scooted his butt over by the left side of me and held onto my left arm. Although he couldn't read, he liked to looked at the pictures if any, in this case there is.
Elijah: Whoa! What are those?
He pointed at the image of a group of ferocious creatures.
Me: These are piranhas, red-bellied ones in fact. They're fish with razor sharp teeth that have a taste for flesh and blood.
Regardless that we were both afraid of them, I grinned to keep things positive. Sadly it didn't work and I started flipping through pages.
Elijah: What else is dangerous in the seas, sis?
Me: Well, bro, there's sharks, including the Megalodon that can eat ships whole.
He shuddered with fear but was still curious what else was in my book.
Elijah: Do you think there could be...
He gulped.
Elijah: ...creepy creatures up ahead?
He shakily pointed up ahead were the ocean up front was blanketed with thick, misty fog.
Me: Hmm, good question.
Speedily, I flipped through tha pages even faster to find the one I was looking for.
Me: There could be a Kraken, or Vampire Squid, or Bloops-
Elijah cackled his head off, rocking back & forth on his back.
Elijah: What's a Bloop?
Me: Trust me. It's a lot scarier than it sounds. Ah ha!
Finally I stopped on the page I wanted to go on.
Me: Sirens. Most of them are evil merpeople, half-human half-fish. Others are half-human half-bird. They're creepy creatures that lure ships to them with beautiful singing. Once they catch you they-
Elijah: Th-th-they what?
You asked for it, dude.
Me: They drag you down into the ocean so far down that no one can hear you scream. Then they eat you to the bone to your deep watery death.
The little dude shivered some more when his pupils shrunk to the size of specks of dust.
Elijah: WHAT THE HECK!
Preston shushed him angrily.
Me: But with us coders around, there is a huge chance no matter what sea creature we'll find, we'll be fine.
Preston: She's right. We'll be just fine.
Elijah sighed of relief and sat back down by Preston's right side.
The fog was reaching out to the ship, grabbing it into it's area. We all looked in front of us again in wonder. The mist opened a little, revealing a tiny patch of land sticking out of the grey calm waters. On the land was a rickety, old, wooden sign that read words so faded that it was unintelligible. The fog also revealed the top half of a skeleton holding onto the land as if for dear life. His skull and his bottom jaw hung askew on the sand and despite being dead, it had a good grip on the land so it could never let go. Whenever there's skeletons in mysterious areas like this, it makes me shiver just thinking about what might've caused it. I had a feeling we were about to find out. Leaning over to Elijah, I decided to give him some comfort and whisper some info.
