Brian's POV

"Hand me my hat..."  Roger asked me as he kept hold of the wheel and focused on the road.  I reached into the back area of the car and found his corduroy cap for him.  I handed it to him and held the wheel while he put it on and straightened his hair out so he could see.  He took back the steering wheel and smiled at me while I moved my hand from driving down to his thigh.

"Thanks babe.."  he told me and I squeezed his leg in response.  Between his flying blonde tresses, sunglass covered eyes and that wicked pink smile, watching Roger drive was much better scenery than anything the motorway offered.  Roger didn't hesitate when I had made the impulsive decision to drive to Brighton.  The last two days had told me I wasn't going to be satisfied with any sound sample the studios had to offer and I knew the auditory memory I had from Brighton was the only sound I wanted on my song.

"The weather sure is different this time.."  Roger commented to me.  It was different from our only prior visit to Brighton.  Our last visit years before had been during July and it was a really hot summer that year.

"I seem to recall last time we took this drive, you only had a pair of shorts on..." I reminded him.  His face grew warm with the memory and I savored the wicked grin that formed on his mouth.

"It was warm that day Bri and the van was fucking hot!"  he recalled.  I nodded agreement to his recollection and slipped my hand from his thigh up to his crotch.

"The weather may be cooler but the driver's still really hot!"  I teased.  Roger turned from looking at the road and puckered his lips at me.  I leaned over and kissed him and he returned to watching the motorway.  He is so damn sexy!

With it being late in September, the city and beach area sure felt different from our last trip here. The streets seemed empty and void of activity compared to the deluge of human beings we encountered before.  The summer months bring out the masses but fall certainly turns the tourist haven into a sparse landscape.  I panicked for a moment thinking that the amusement park might be closed.  As Roger found a place to park nearby I was relieved to hear the familiar tones in the distance.  I sighed happily as he secured the brake and we got out.  Roger got the recorder from the boot and I tucked my bag over my shoulder while we walked towards the Palace Pier.

"I can hear it already...do you hear what you were looking for?"  Roger asked me as we neared the entrance.  I was hearing the sounds that had filled my memory and nodded and smiled as I walked up to the admission gate.  I fished around in my pocket for some change.

"Two please..."  I told the lady in the booth.  She took my money and slipped me the tickets.  We entered the park and I walked down to a side area where there were seats and sat down to close my eyes and listen to the soundscape.  I felt Roger sit next to me.  I liked the volume and rhythm from where we were so I pulled a out an un-opened box of reel to reel tape from my bag.  Roger saw me do it and started opening up the recording machine for me.  I got the machine set up and pressed the blank tape onto the spool and wound the tape around.  I fed some tape through and Roger plugged in the microphone.  I took it from him and then pressed the record button.  He smiled as he watched me mouth a count on my lips and then I stopped the machine.  I knew I couldn't hear the playback due to the noise around us so I took it on faith that I had it.  I nodded to Rog and he picked up the machine as we headed to other parts of the park.

------------------------

After recording patches of sound in several spots, we headed back to the car and I sat inside while Roger sat the recorder down in his seat.  I pulled out the headphones from the case and plugged them in the machine so I could hear what I had recorded.  I rewound the tape and listened to everything with my eyes closed.  I had what I was looking for and opened my eyes and smiled up at Roger.  He got his amazing opened mouthed grin when he saw I was happy with the results.
