Gracelyn
I let out a sharp gasp of pain when I took a deep breath. Flashing my eyes open, pain radiated over my entire body, especially my head and leg.
Groaning softly, I heard the door slide open, blinking a few times to adjust to the violently, bright lights, I saw Will. "You were a lucky one, not many survive a car crash like that"
Going over a few things on the chart, he explained some of my injuries. The most severe being a concussion and a large contusion on my leg. Walking out of the room, I saw him motion for someone.
Stopping outside the room, there stood Trey and Adam. Tears started to well in my eyes as I stared at my son. He looked so distressed.
"Mom". Holding out my arms, he came running to into the room. Carefully hugging me, I felt the tears hit my shoulders. "I was so worried".
Cupping his face with my hands, I gave a teary eyes smile. "I'm ok kiddo". Burying his head in my shoulder, I kissed the top of head. Glancing back up at Adam, he stood there with tears in his own eyes.
Walking into the room, he basically teleported to my side, his hand instantly holding mine. His other hand running through my hair. Squeezing his hand, he leaned down placing a kiss on my lips. "I don't think I have ever been so terrified in my life."
I looked at him apologetically. "I promise I'm ok. It takes something a lot worse to keep me down". Running a hand through Trey's hair, I felt the teen's heart even out, telling me he was asleep.
"He wouldn't sleep, not without knowing you were ok". Blinking away the tears, I placed a small kiss on my son's head. Turning back towards Adam, he sat on the other side of my bed.
Rubbing shapes on the back of my hand, he looked into my eyes. "Everyone is so worried Gracelyn. From what I heard, you shouldn't have made it out of that car accident alive"
Raising my hand to his cheek, I caressed it the best I could with all the wires. Although my head hurt, and my body was a little sore, I sucked it up. My family needed to know I was ok.
As Adam left the room to get my brothers, I jut stroked Trey's hair. Two worrisome firefighter flew to my side, each taking my hand, and kissing my forehead. "Next time we aren't listening to you and giving you an escort"
Chuckling softly, I just looked at them. "I didn't want up get you involved".
"We're family, we look out for one another". Glancing at the sleeping teen in my arms, they smiled. "That kid looks up to you Grace."
We talked for a few minutes before they left. Closing my eyes, I feel asleep with Trey in my arms. All the while Adam came back in the room, sleeping on the couch that was in there. He didn't want to leave his son and girlfriend by themselves.

The morning was simple, my two boys stayed with me for a little while before leaving to change and get ready for the day. Which ended up becoming an endless visitor movement in the hospital hotel room. The firehouse stopped by the room, all expressing their worries and telling me how stupid I was for leaving without an escort, of course without telling me I was stupid straight out.
Only soon enough it was time for shifts to start and I was left alone for a little while. Will walked into the room and smiled at me. "How are you doing Little Casey". I watched as he placed hand sanitizer on his hands, stepping closer to me.
"I'm ok. Have a pounding headache and pain when I move". Moving his head in agreement and understanding, he did the normal check up. Going through a few things and how I could be released in a few hours, I gave him a grateful smile.
As he was leaving two of my favorite people in the world showed up. Smiling brightly at Trey, he made his way over to my bed with a certain badass sergeant on his tail. "You almost gave this sergeant a heart attack."
"Sorry Platt, but you know I got to bring excitement into people's lives somehow"
"Yes because chasing bullets and bad guys isn't exciting enough". Shrugging my shoulder we smiled at each other. Standing by my side Trey was playing a game on his phone as he sat on the bed while I looked at Trudy. "Lover Boy and Intelligence is working the case. Voight calling it a In-House Case only.".
Understanding the meaning behind her words, relief washed over me. I didn't really want the case to be all over the news. The three of us talked, Trey telling me all the things Platt has been teaching him. I loved the way his eyes would shine when he repeated the same words Trudy most likely said to me when I was his age.
Knocks on the door caught all of our attentions. Moving my head slightly, I saw Adam standing there with the rest of Intelligence. Welcomes and small cheers were how I was greeted when they entered the room. I smiled at the boys, love showing my eyes as Adam gave Trey a fatherly squeeze on the shoulder.
Conversations started between everyone. Intelligence bringing me up to speed on the situation. Jay telling me all about the epic take down Adam did, which made Trey's look up at Adam with admiration. "Hey Sarge". Watching the older man look towards me, I motioned towards Trey.
"Is it possible to have Trey ride with one of the guys in Intelligence tomorrow". Excitement rose in the boys eyes as he turned towards Voight. A nod was my answer. Going over a few things the boy listened closely, not wanting to mess up the first hand experience.
