It was two days before you heard from Alex again.
You'd been true to your decision of not questioning him, remaining quiet and not prodding for information.
As far as you could tell, it had been essentially radio silence on his end. Not even Aksel had heard from him since the... event. He hadn't streamed at all. You weren't sure what to call it. You weren't even sure of what scared him off like that.
But then he messaged you.

When the familiar chimes of a Discord call started, your heart rate sped up in sync. You didn't usually feel nervous when calling with someone, but with Alex-- it was different.
Your fingers hesitated over the mouse, grasping at the last bits of peacefulness in the air before finally pressing down. His avatar filled the screen.
You covered your ears immediately, expecting his typical cheerful screaming and raucous, but it was quiet. You bit your lip with confusion.
"Uhh, what's good?" He awkwardly started.
"El burro sabe más que tú!" You shouted into the mic.
"You- Y/N what-"
You smirked at his befuddlement.
"I researched some Spanish insults while you were MIA, noob! Gotta always stay one step ahead."
"Oh, you found some legit insults, epic..." He coughed.
"Like I wasn't learning legit ones before?" You asked.
He hesitated, and a few moments of silence lapsed.
"Yeah, well, I haven't been acting very pog lately, princesa... Eh, Aksel kind of whooped my ass back to reality and I want to apologize."
"Not this shit again, amor," you groaned.
"What?" He asked.
"You're trying to dip as my tutor again! You teach me Spanish for a few days and then try to ghost me!"
"No, that's not--"
"I won't take it! Alex, you're stuck as my teacher, whether you like it or not!" You exclaimed, then blushed as you realized what you said. You weren't supposed to like the lessons, you were only putting up with them for Ani's sake, right? Then... why were you getting so defensive when faced with the prospect of not talking to Alex as much...
Maybe you were developing a not-hatred for him. Not a like, of course, you'd never like him, but maybe... you didn't hate him anymore. That was it.
"Y/N, Big Q is trying to apologize!"
"You don't have to apologize for being a baboso, I understand," you grinned.
"Ooh, another epic google search insult, I see," he laughed and his mood brightened if only a bit.
"Of course, mi amor! You deserve only the most cruel of insults."
Then he got quiet again, almost guiltily. You briefly wondered what he was so pensive about; he'd been happy to talk to you, then he'd become distant so suddenly. You didn't know if it was you that had made him upset or something else. Whatever had happened, you didn't want your budding friendship to end so soon.
Ugh, were you turning into a simp?
"No but seriously--"
"Nope! I won't hear it," you cut him off, "No more drama in main. The end. Bye!"
You laughed and ended the call. You'd let him explain in the future, but for now, you just wanted to revel in building your new not-so-hatred friendship.
