Bash looked down, disappointed. Gilbert had just told Bash how he believed Anne didn't love him, even though her thoughts were quite the contrary. Bash seemed a lot more wary about Gilbert's decision to propose to Winifred, as he had believed Anne was always the girl for him. But Gilbert's response seemed to be a lot more definite, even though the flicker in his eyes said otherwise.
Anne's head was racing. What did she feel? What even is love? How does she know if it is love she feels for Gilbert? What if she was lying to herself? What if she was about to ruin Gilbert's future? What if she was making the right decision, letting Gil go? Or maybe she was making the wrong decision? But doesn't she deserve her own chance at love? Doesn't she deserve to put her feelings first for once?
