哪里(Nǎ lǐ) and 那里 (Nà lǐ)have different meaning but same pin yin. Many people mix up both words. Their difference is that they have different tone.
哪里 means where and you read 哪 with the third tone.
Uses of 哪里
你住在哪里？ (Nǐ zhù zài nǎlǐ?)= where do you live?
那里 means there and you read 那 with the fourth descending tone.
Uses of 那里
把书放在那里。( Bǎ shū fàng zài nàlǐ ) = put the book there.
