He got a serious job this time, and it was with bat mood. Do you get it? Danny asked in his head. Bat mood. He smirked in himself. Yes, he still had those lame jokes, the ghosts of the ghost zone gave him enough deadpanning to know that. He came at the big building and went under the yellow and black lint. The guards knowing him from previous cases let him pass.
He nodded at them. It was only a dead man in the company. The man suffered from hart attacks so the police was just a formality, but they liked Danny and his insight on things. "Morning." He said to the officer and bent down next to him by the body.
"What is a kid doing here, officer Smith?" Asked Bruce Wayne, head of this company.
"We call him in sometimes. He's a freelancer, but a genius in his own league." Danny smiled at the praise.
"Aw, thank you." He said. He grabbed the mans hand and looked at the purple fingers. "How long has he been dead?" He asked.
"Just an hour." He said. Danny nodded and dropped the hand.
"What was he doing before he died." He asked. Officer Smith stood up and pointed to a cup of coffee.
"Drinking his usual coffee." He said. Danny nodded and hummed thoughtful. "It's probably a fatal Hart failure. He did have that in his medical dossier." Danny nodded.
"Can I borrow that cup for a minute?" He asked. At Smiths nod he wiped a little cloth on the edges and the handle. He went to a corner and tested it once. Pleased with the results he went back to them. "Can I borrow one of these computers for a while." Smith nodded absentmindedly. Too busy to speak to the famous Bruce Wayne. Danny smiled at the shadows beneath the bats eyes. Would his visit have kept up the justice league? He hoped so.
These computers were way better than what he had in his apartment. What would he have expected, it is a pretty futuristic place. He went on to watch the security videos of the last two weeks, he was sure as hell that it was no hart failure now. Two weeks prior two cleaners died because they combined chlorine and acid-based detergent and put the cleaning car before a closed door, they couldn't get out in time and died. Yeah, dead by a poisonous cleaning gas you created by accident wasn't really a cause of dead he wanted to be spoken of with his funeral.
He went back to Officer Smith and a very annoyed Bruce Wayne. "How old was he Anyways?" Bruce looked up and answered, glad he had an excuse.
"52." He said. "Why?" He looked at Danny with a raised eyebrow. Wasn't he supposed to be worlds greatest detective? Sleep deprivation really was doing it's number on him.
"It's a shame, way to young to be murdered like this." He bowed his head in pseudo respect, he knew enough dead people to not pity him anymore. Smith choked on air and Bruce's eyes widened.
"Do tell me why you think that." Danny shrugged.
"Potassium cyanide, kills pretty fast. It has a reaction with blood to make it thicker, thereby killing the person. Rigor Mortis, also pretty well known. Takes almost immediate effect and stiffens the body. Two hours and the body is under normal circumstances completely stiff, but oh no, the body already is." Danny said with a fake horrified face. "Normal circumstances, check. Potassium Cyanide on the cup, check. Motive, check. All I need now is my suspect." He shrugged.
The bat got an understanding look. "Tell on." Smith was still as clueless but got the gist of it. Perks of being an officer.
"Cyanide on the cup, in the footage I saw that he constantly licks his fingers after even the smallest of food he got in his mouth." He pointed at his mouth and yawned once. "Footage also shows the one who served it. Male, black hair, scruffy hair, named Jordan White." He said. Bruce got his phone and asked to bring him in. But Danny wasn't finished.
"Connection to the previous two deads, same political ideals, same argument with the man including the joker and batman, all three threatened to tell he was a joker supporter, and therefor a possible spy in a high tech company." He smiled as Bruce informed another person on a different line than before. "Let's not forget about his dad being a scientist focused on chemical reactions to improve medical health and as a side project has the betterment of self fixing plastic. He has a good source." Smith blinked, jutting it all down on a note pad. Bruce sighed a long suffering sigh.
"How do you know all this kid? You've only been on this case 50 minutes." He asked. Danny smiled innocently.
"Hacking into the security system of Wayne tech was indeed hard, took me a full ten minutes. After watching the footage I searched of few connections between the ones from a week ago and watched the last two weeks of those three people, set on the sound and searched Jordan's past and found the rest. It wasn't that hard, and Jordan is not a genius in hiding." Bruce stiffened.
"You hacked into our system?!" Danny waved him off.
"I'm an ethical hacker, don't worry." He seemed to relax a little but still watched him closely. The case was rounded up quickly after that. All Danny's evidence was rechecked and Jordan was found guilty after a mad confession. Well, that was a nice day, back to playing video games, but he was stopped by the one and only Bruce Wayne. "Don't hack into my company anymore." He said with a dead glare. Danny smirked and patted him on the head while dodging the hand that wanted to stop him.
"No worries." And he left. He felt the eyes of Bruce Wayne in his back but ignored them. He would be paid automatically before the week was over.
-oOoOo-
Bruce sighed and rubbed his sleep with his hands. "Rough day?" Asked Dick. He just sighed more and nodded. "What happened?"
"There was a Murder, officer Smith wanted to dismiss it as heart failure without doing further tests, but some kid solved it." He thought for a while before he smirked. "He might even beat you in hacking, even you couldn't hack into WayneCorp in ten minutes your first time." Dick got a horrified expression.
"I'm the best hacker." Whined a very upset Dick. "I'm totally whelmed now." Bruce ignored the teens weird sense of words before going to the bat-cave, Dick
automatically following behind him. It was time for patrol. He looked up the teen once in the cave. He found his personal files, but they were shallow. He worked on fixing things sent to him and some kind of hacker/researcher for the police. There was no medical file, or even a police report. Everything was in order, but it was empty."Okay, let's move out." Robin nodded and followed his teacher and mentor outside. It wasn't as peaceful as it was supposed to be.
