Sorry for being inactive for a while! As an apology I guess I'm double-posting today haha x
This is such a cliche, but honestly I. LOVE. IT!!
Usually this romance is quite unrealistic, but here's how you can make it more realistic for your readers to love the trope even more!
Make your characters meet in a realistic manner- they won't just start talking to each other for no reason whatsoever! Maybe they meet in another country, are lab partners... there are so many scenarios! Take your school days as an inspiration: how did you meet new friends?
- seriously. if they hated each other they wouldn't start dating immediately.
- make them meet in a realistic situation (like 18 years olds don't usually meet in clubs)
- make their comments to each other snarky, slightly mean.
- then as time progresses, change the style of their dialogue.
- why do they hate each other? Accidents? Prejudice?
- how do they bond? Forced assignments? Forced family gatherings?
- make sure that they've got some similar traits and interests
- how do they resolve the conflict?
- it could be in a work scenario as well, not just high school/college
- most people don't marry their first boyfriend/girlfriend
- include some ups and downs, like maybe bring back their hatred for each other
- it doesn't have to have a happy ending. do something different.
- detailed bonding process. it'll bring in the reader.
- are any people challenging/questioning their relationship?
