I didn't have time to think I was just reacting to her lips pressed against mine. Her hand was laced in the back of my hair as I slide my hand up her leg. She started to run her hand under my shirt and I was shocked back to my senses. I pulled back slightly and was out of breathe, "We shouldn't do this." It's not really what I wanted but we had to work together and this case looked like it was going to be complicated so making it worse probably isn't a good idea. She pulled away and didn't say anything, I hoped I didn't insult her body language was saying I probably did. The ride was quiet and when we pulled up to the hotel she went to jump out of the car and I grabbed her arm before she could. She looked over at me and I was still trying to figure out if she was hurt. "It's not that I don't want to. Believe me I want to," I said stressing that it was taking all of my self control to not do this. A smirk came across her face and she leaned toward me to whisper in my ear, "Let's see how long you can hold out." Goosebumps ran over my entire body as she turned and got out of the car. I watched her walk toward the door and just before she went inside she turned back to look at me with the biggest smile on her face. One that said she knew I was watching her. With the look she was giving me there's a good chance I wouldn't be able to hold out for long. After I knew she was inside I headed home but it wasn't long before I had a text from Bailey.

B: "Ya fuck her yet?"

I should have known this message was coming.

"No asshole I just dropped her off."

B: "You must be losing your touch."

I wanted to be like no you bitch she tried and I turned her down but that would open up a whole other conversation trust I didn't need to have.

"You know that's not possible. Go to bed'"

B: "Later." *Peace sign emoji*

I wasn't sure why or how I was able to say no to her. I definitely didn't want to but something told me it was the best idea at least for now. I got home and was almost too tired to shower. When I finally got in bed I was staring at the ceiling my thoughts torn between the beautiful girl I left in a hotel room all alone and the murder investigation that was going to be taking up my days. All I could see was the position of those bodies and it was driving me crazy that I couldn't figure out why it looked so damn familiar to me. I finally fell asleep but it was a restless sleep.

I was standing in the middle of an empty road staring at a light in the distance. The wind was blowing around me and it was the only sound I could hear. Then there was a whisper, a woman's voice. "Help me." I started walking toward the light fighting the wind against me. "Help me," the whisper came again. I started to walk faster, I didn't recognize the voice but I knew I needed to get to that light. I started to run but no matter how hard or fast I tried to go I never got any closer to whoever needed my help. I ran for what felt like forever when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I stopped and spun around, and everything went black.

I woke up suddenly jumping up in my bed. "What the hell was that?" I said to myself out loud, but it was morning and my alarm was about to go off. I reached over and grabbed my phone and already had a couple messages from both my Captain and Bailey. It was definitely going to be a long day. I got up and headed for the shower, if I wasn't going to get any more sleep I might as well get in a good hot shower. I stood there with the hot water pouring over my back trying to figure out what it was about that dream that bugged me so much, aside from the obvious creepiness of it. Who was the voice? Was it someone I know or is this all just in my head? I was completely lost in my thoughts when my phone rang, I reached out of the shower and grabbed it. "McMaster," on the other end wasn't the voice I was expecting to hear. "Hi Kelly, it's Angelica," even when she said her name I was enticed but I was determined to stick to my decision. "Oh hey," I said in an attempt to try and cover my surprise. "Sorry, if I woke you," she said but I think she knew I was already up. "I'm just getting ready to head to the station, what's up?" I asked wondering why she called. She couldn't be trying to torment me already, it's too early.  "Well Josh had to run out this morning to take care of a few things before we met up with you guys so I was wondering if you could pick me up on your way in?" For a half a second I wondered what Crow was doing so early in the morning but the tone of her voice told me that she did infact want to torture me first thing in the morning. "Ya of course, I'll be there in 20," I said trying to be as nonchalant as possible. "I'll be waiting for you," she said with a chuckle and hung up. I finished getting ready and headed over, this girl was definitely going to be a distraction, but I couldn't let her distract me from making sure this case was solved. There were too many victims and I have to be smarter than to let my personal life affect that. I pulled up and she was waiting outside, I've always found a woman in a suit sexy but man did this woman make it look better than I could have imagined. The car door opened and she got in, "Good morning Detective," I smiled at started to drive away. "Good morning Agent," she put her hand on my forearm which got my attention. I turned and looked at her, "That's Special Agent." I rolled my eyes, "I'm so sorry. It won't happen again." When we pulled up to the station Bailey and the Captain were already there. We walked into the office and they were standing just outside the captain's office. Angelica and I were laughing when we walked in knowing that after last night Bailey was likely to say something about us walking in together this morning when they heard our voices and both turned around with a look. Bailey's face said, 'You liar' and the Captain, well, her look was a little more complicated. One that said 'Kelly, you know better than this' but combined with one that says 'You really are an asshole aren't you'. My relationship with Captain Johnson was slightly complicated and I had a feeling this was going to lead to a conversation I didn't want to have. However, Val didn't seem to care because she pointed at me and wavied me into her office. Bailey walked in my direction and as we pass whispered, "Good job jackass." I knew she was probably going to go grill Angelica but I didn't have to warn her not to since I was now facing my boss and friend who didn't look happy. I walked passed her and heard the door shut behind me, "Look Val, I know what you're going to say. It's not what you think." Her demeanor was cold and calm but I knew that wasn't her mood. She sat down behind her desk and I sat on the edge close to her which may have been a mistake but no one said I made good decisions. "Kel, come on," she said irritated. "You know you can't get involved with her, she's FBI and the last thing we need is something fucking up this case. Plus," she hesitated. I interrupted her before she could finish, "I know Val, I'm sorry. Her and I aren't involved and I told her the same thing yesterday. It's not worth the risk." Her eyes panicked, "No, no I didn't tell her about that, just told her it wasn't a good idea." I looked out of her office at Angelica and Bailey talking and sighed, "Damnit Cap, you know how hard it is for me." She laughed knowing I was trying to change the subject and she got up to walk towards the door, she brushed up against me as she did and I grabbed her arm, "I really am sorry." She didn't say anything but nodded and we both just walked out to get to work. When we walked back over to them Crow had arrived and the girls were both looking at me both wanting to know what was said behind closed doors.   I walked up and Bailey went to say something and I put my hand up, "Don't." She laughed and just shook her head, "Alright, well I heard back from the gang unit and the restaurant or any of the victims weren't on their radar." That made sense to what we were all thinking. With the other crime scenes and spread out over locations it seemed unlikely it was gang related in the first place. The more I thought about it the more it seemed clear. "I think we are dealing with a professional hit." Crow suddenly looked a little frightened and Angelica didn't looked surprised, "But you already knew that didn't you?" I asked her wondering why she felt she needed to hide it. "Yes, that's the same conclusion we came to but I didn't want to cloud the situation incase I was wrong." I still felt like she was holding something back but for the time being I was going to let it go. "So what else do we have? I didn't expect much in the way of fingerprints because it's a restaurant but I was hoping that maybe some of the blood evidence wasn't a match to the victims. Something that led us anywhere. Bailey just shook her head, "Nothing yet, still waiting on ballistics." I sighed in frustration, what do you do when you have no suspects, no evidence and a bunch of dead bodies? I'm sure go drink wasn't the answer but it's very much what I wanted to do right now. I was staring at the papers in my hands that told me I had nothing when Angelica spoke, "Do you think we could get anymore out of the owner?" I knew he was hiding something but I wasn't sure if he would tell us anything more. I'm sure that it couldn't hurt though, "Ya might as well. B what was his address?" She looked at me confused because usually this would be something we would do together but I didn't think four people needed to ask him questions. Unfortunately, that meant I was leaving her with Crow. 'Sorry' I mouthed as she handed me a paper with the address on. I looked over at Angelica, "You ready?" She smiled and we headed out the door. The car ride was pretty uneventful but that was about to change. We pulled up to the house and were getting out of the car when we suddenly there were gunshots coming at us.
