Gregor and the Code of Claw -- A happy ending + A Book Six

Chapter 9

Gregor leaves the room and walks down the halls, contemplating. Who should he talk to next, there's to many, to little time. 

He decided Ri-- Horns. Oh God not the Horns. The enemy's were near, he felt it. Gregor screamed down every hall getting the messenger's up to start getting thd army ready and people evacuated to the palace.

He ran to his and Luxa's quarters and shook her awake, "What?" She asked sleepily,

"The battle has begun," he replies.

The shock registeres on her face immediately and then panic, she stands up and hugs him deeply, " Gregor, I'm scared, I don't want to lose you, I don't want to lose anyone." She croaks out, tears are streaming down her face, Gregor looks her straight in the eyes,

"Luxa, I don't want to lose anyone either, but we-- we have to do this, ok, it' gonna be okay."he says and strokes her hair away from her tears and they kiss, probaly their last.

They wake the bats and tell them the news, they are scared but ready. I walk into Snaps room, I gently wake him up, "Yeah," he says, not knowing what's happening, now he's 20, at leas he will take the throne.

"Snap, the battle is begining, when I am gone, please take care of the Regalia, for that is my dying wish." He says to Snap, Snap pulls him into a hug.

"Please don't go dad, please," this was the first time Snap had called him dad "i-- I don't know if I can do it... I'm scared."

"Snap you can do this, I know you can, Snap." Gregor tells him, "Get a bond, get married and protect the city from danger. Okay?"

"Okay." Snap says, "I'll miss you, thank you for taking me in, I will never forget you."

"You too Snap, you too." Gregor says and walks out. He will miss that boy.

He goes to Miravet and gets fitted,the armour is light and thinner on the chest but a strong helmet with face shield, it had a gold crown molded into the black armour. Gregor saw Mareth looking at him while he was getting his new prostetic and he looked away quickly.

He grabbed his sword and runs out to catch Mareth, "Mareth, I just wanted to tell you to, when I'm gone, please watch Snap for me."

Mareth nods and gives him a hug, "I will miss you dearly, Gregor." He says.

"I will miss you too Mareth," Gregor says and they linger until Mareth says he has to go to the wall and he hobles off. Gregor looks out from a balcony and see's the commotion going on. Hundreds of family's are getting airlifted away and to a sliding hole in the wall for easy entree that was created to make the High Hall less crowded, there was lots of soilder's flying to the wall. "I should head out"Gregor thought and hurries off to his quarters to get Ares and Luxa.

When he gets in there, he is suprised to see Luxa's armour, it is gold and her crown is black, like the opposite of his. The bats had no change. They go out the secret window in their room and fly to the wall.

There are 1000's of fliers, gnawers, crawler and spinners heading to the wall to fight. When they arrived they saw the forces getting assembled, the Gnawers waiting at a huge door while the spinners are hanging from strands of thread for a surprise attack and the humans and Fliers are on the wall ready to fly out.

The field falls silent as the click of feet is faintly audible, it sounds like a march, every click happens evenly spaced out. As the sound grows closer the tensions grow and you could feel the muscles tighten in each creature. When they round the bend you see there forces.

The ants are in rows and rows seeming to merges as they are so thickly packed and even in that small segment of their forces, there is almost 5000 of them.

As we take in the army, the tension grows so thick you could cut it with a knife, when Ares lifts Gregor up in front of everyone on the wall in the center of the cavern, Gregor looks out on to the army and takes one last deep breath, remembering all his times here, knowing this will be his last battle. He lifts his sword into the air high above his head and the horns blare out, echoing off the cave walls. They Charge.
