I heard him make his way out to the patio as he walked through the open sliding glass door. I was curled up on the couch as my phone laid beside me. I had my journal in one hand and my pen in the other. I was writing more music.
Performing yesterday.
Being in the studio again even if it wasn't back in London made me feel calm. At peace. So, I decided to keep writing. I pour myself into my new song, working on a new arrangement.
It was slightly chilly, so I was curled up a light throw with Charlie sprawled out at my feet. He conked out after I gave him an early dinner.
"Hey." He said quietly. Something on his face gave away his apprehension.
"Hey," I replied looking up from my spot.
He remains standing in front of me and fidgets with his hands. Chase was many things but awkward wasn't one of them. Until now.
"I uh... I think it's time we talk." He replies after he clears his throat.
"If that's okay." He adds hesitantly.
Chase and I had woken up late this morning and made it to school two hours late. We weren't mad about it either. We even stopped to grab a coffee.
I felt bad about not taking Falcon to school, but Chase told me it was fine. Falcon could drive this morning. We stopped at the office to learn our parents already excused us for being late and we were given our slips and sent to our respective classes.
We finished our school day and Chase stayed after for football practice and caught a ride back with Falcon. I made it home an hour before him. I had thought Falcon would come over with Chase but given the look on Chase's face, I guessed that that wasn't happening tonight.
