I grabbed my bag and went downstairs.
"You heading out?" Troy asked, with smoke flaring in the air and music blasting.
"Yeah—Caleb is coming to pick me up." I lied, even though Caleb does know how to drive.
"Have fun" he winked as a female came to dance on him.
And he's damn near drunk so yeah, perfect.
I jogged outside and Derrick was bumping music that was so loud I could hear the bass as I walked to the car. When I opened the door he was dancing and rapping along.
"Have you already started drinking?" I chuckled as I got in
"Naw, I'm just feelin' this song." He said and pulled off
"So did he give you any issues?" He asked as he turned the music down.
"Nope! He's so high and drunk right now he didn't cross examine or anything. He just told me have fun." I said
"We definitely will." He said
"You wanna play a song on the AUX?" He asked
"Oh I get to choose—well sure." I said and grabbed the cord from him.
"Naw naw, don't play no damn love songs." He said
"I'm not!" I said and went to my playlist
I turned on Hotline Bling by Drake.
"Aw yeah, this used to be my shit." He nodded as he turned it up
"Is your mom going to be fine with us drinking there?" He asked
"It's their anniversary weekend so she's leaving at 10 to head out to some late night comedy fest with her husband that's an hour away and they probably camping out at a hotel until the morning." He explained
"Oh yeah, that's great." I said
He allowed me to play what I desired until we made it to his house. I can already feel this is going to be a good night. I'm already feeling excited.
I never have fun unless I'm with Derrick.
We walked up the steps to the house.
"Cali! I haven't seen you in ages!" His mom smiled as we walked in
She gave me a big hug and swayed us from side to side.
"I know I've missed you more." I replied
"How is Troy treating you?" She asked with a raised eyebrow
"Mama he a bitch—"
"Derrick.." I said
"He's fine.. I guess."
"I know Troy and he has always been a handful so let's just hope he simmered down over the years." She said
"The years? I thought he seen you recently."
"Troy ass ain't been over to see mama in two years." Derrick said
"Well he's been coming to see somebody because he has recent pictures with his father."
