Rex had barely fallen asleep when the phone rang and woke him up.
"Hey, Rex. Did I wake you?"
"It's one o'clock in the morning Dom. What do you think?" Rex grunted. "Please don't tell me another body's been found."
"Our guy's struck again. The victim's alive though. I'm on my way to the hospital."
Rex sat up, suddenly feeling wide awake.
"He's alive? Can he tell us anything?"
Rex leapt out of bed and started dressing as fast as she could.
"No. He's unconscious in the ambulance. The hospital's been alerted; they're waiting for him to come in."
"I'll see you at the hospital in fifteen minutes. Does Cole-?"
"I've already called him. He's going to try and make sure the press doesn't find out about this one until the victim's awake and we've talked to him. We don't want our guy finding out this one's alive and coming back to finish the job."
Rex hung up, finished dressing, pulled on his shoes, put out some food for Aeacus' breakfast, and ran from the house.
