Moving on

Chapter 21

Laura was making breakfast while Susann was still asleep in the room. They spent the night curled in each other embrace. Yesterday Susann encouraged Laura to visit Colton's mom and talk with him. She was currently rinsing her hands, when she heard her phone ring. she looked at the phone screen. it was nick. A thought of letting the call go to voicemail crossed her mind, but knowing him he will pester her until she answers his calls.

"What do you want nick?" Laura answered the phone.

"You told Colton that we were married" nick growled

"Yes" she replied nonchalantly.

"I told you to not tell him, we're no longer working together. Because of you I lost a lot of money." He said angrily.

"I don't have time for you" as she was about to hang up, she heard him say

"You're going to regret it". He snarled.

"Wake up sunshine" Laura jumped on the bed and hugged Susann.

"Good morning" Susann muttered sleepily.

"Good morning, c'mon I prepared breakfast" she beamed at her

"Give me a minute" Susann walked towards the bathroom to refresh herself.

They were eating their breakfast in silence, when Laura blurted out "I'm going to the hospital today before work."

"Do you want me to go with you?"

Laura shook her head "no it's okay, I will handle Colton". She smiled at Laura trying to look like she has matters in her own hands, but internally, she was sure that Colton wouldn't forgive her anytime soon.

"I better go now" Laura hurried to her room to take a shower and change. Later she emerged from her room looking refreshed.

"See you later momma" she hugged her Susann and kissed her cheek

"I'm sure he will forgive you Laura" Susann replied back

"I hope so"

"After what you told me about your relationship, I can feel that the love between you and him is so strong, I'm sure it will surpass this hardship, just give him time, don't rush him."

Laura arrived to the hospital. she was inside the elevator anxiously waiting for it to arrive to the floor where Amanda was staying .As the elevator's door opened, she felt a bit relieved not to see Colton on the hallway. On her way to the hospital she decided to take Susann's advice and give Colton time. She just wanted to check on his mother today, she will deal with him later. She knocked on the door and slowly opened it. Amanda was lying on the bed, a foam collar around her neck, her right leg which apparently was broken, was lifted. Next to her bed, Juliette was lying on the sofa asleep. She looked at Amanda and smiled, while slowly heading towards her.

"Hey Amanda." she said softly..

"Hey sweetheart. How are you?" she smiled genuinely at her.

"I'm fine and you?"

"I've been better" she chuckled.

"I'm sorry for what happened to you. Do you still feel any pain?" she asked worriedly

Amanda gently shook her head. "No they gave me a lot of painkillers. I'm not feeling anything. I'm sorry I ruined your weekend"

"No, please don't say that" Laura said quickly. She was about to say something when she heard a cold deep voice from behind her. "what are you doing here?". She closed her eyes for a moment trying to collect her courage to look at him and not cry. She opened he eyes and looked at his mother Amanda was staring at them looking confused. Laura tentatively smiled at her and turned to look at him. She gulped at the sight of him. He was wearing the same clothes as yesterday, and he looked angry, furious. His arms were crossed in front of him, and his eyes were shooting daggers at her.
