the prettiest star

I shakily stepped onto the ice in my skates, David close behind. We both laughed nervously, we both didn't know how to skate. David held my waist securely as I was slipping a little. We sung softly to each other as we slowly made our way around the ice rink, holding hands. I frowned lightly, remembering Angie's letter, I hadn't told David what it said, I hadn't told anyone. I shook the memory out of my head quickly. We both stopped singing as we tried to concentrate. David looked at me curiously.  "You okay love? Something is bothering you." He said knitting his eyebrows together. " I'm fine babe, just nervous. " I replied giggling worriedly. David wrapped his arms around me and I wrapped my arms around his neck.

We slowly began skating in little circles. David kissed the tip of my nose and I watched our feet move in sync. I tried to tiptoe and kiss his forehead. I had forgotten that skates had a stopper on the front to help you come to a slow stop. All of a sudden I stopped and fell lightly on my bum. I laughed and David chuckled warmly. I saw my breath as I laughed, I looked through the smoke like cloud into David's gorgeous unique eyes. Then I quickly grabbed his arm and pulled him down with me. He landed softer than I did and chuckled at my childishness. We both attempted to get up but kept slipping back down again. We were both laughing so hard that we had to give up. Luckily a staff member skated over and helped David up. "Love I think you should leave the kissing to me." David smirked. He helped me up carefully and kissed my lips.

We looked at the clock and saw our 1 hour session was over. We tried to race to the edge of the rink but I cheated and tugged David lightly on his coat so I got there first. I smiled at him, cheekily. We went to the reception and gave our skates in. David and I decided to go to the cafe. On the way we found a place for kids to play who were too young to skate. There was no one in the foam pit so I grinned at David. I then raced at him tackling him in a hug and we both fell to the sponge floor. He chuckled and gave me a big hug and kissed the top of my head. We hurriedly got out of the kids play area and walked into the cafe. It was big, American style food was written in big letters on the wall. David and I sat down. Immediately a waiter rushed over with a small smile on his face. He awkwardly asked for David's autograph. Of course he happily obliged and smiled kindly. David was always kind to fans, even if he was in a bad mood, he didn't like it when people were rude to those who support them.

We both ordered the same meal, a chicken burger and fries. David and I giggled when we said fries. In England we call them chips, so it was weird for us. The food was delicious, we both ate hungrily and spoke very little. Usually we had chats but today we were starving! When we got out of the skating rink it was already dark. You could see the gorgeous night sky and the bright, stage light-like stars. "Look at that star, it's the brightest, and I think it's the prettiest." I said, pointing. David followed my gaze and smiled softly. " No. " He replied, sounding sincere. I frowned. "No?" I asked, confused. " you are the prettiest star. " David said, still sounding sincere. I blushed and smiled, David made me the happiest I've ever been, I fall more in love with him eachday. I even have grown to love his cheesy, romantic anecdotes.

He rested his head on top of mine as I leant on his shoulder. "David." I said. He lifted his head to look at me. " you are the love of my life, my soulmate and I love you more than you will ever know. " I said. tearing up. "Darling, you are the love of my life, my world and you made me smile everyday, not a day goes by where I don't think of how much I want to make you my wife. I love you to mars and back." He said, grinning. " Darling? " "mmhm" I mumbled back. "What was bothering you earlier? Whatever bothers you, bothers me too." He said concerned. " David I-I" I huffed and began again. " It was Angie. " I said fidgeting with my hands. "She gave me a letter, it said that she wants you back and she said that I mean nothing to you." " I know it's just to get you back, I know you love me as I love you but it worries me, you know? " I said, sadly. "Love it's okay, I know you get anxious and overthink, but don't let that control you, you are the only person in the world I want to be with and I love you with all I have." David said, looking into my eyes. I saw truth in his eyes, I smiled.

Every time he looks at me my heart skips a beat. " I'm sorry David, I'm sorry I overthink and I have anxiety, I'm so sorry you have to put up with m-" I began, speaking fast. "Love. Stop. You have to put up with my faults and my anxieties too. It works both ways and I love you more for it. I don't mind even if it means reassuring you everyday if I get to call you mine." He said, softly. He kissed my lips and I kissed back. I took Angie's letter and David passed me a lighter. I lit the edge on fire. I watched her lies, false accusations and assumptions about the love of my life become engulfed by the flames.
