Kadie was born during a sunset.
The minute his newborn daughter was put into his arms, Tom was terrified, and even more terrified to let it show.
The first night they took her home, he slept on the floor by her crib to watch over her. He read every parenting book he could get his hands on. He memorized any and all childcare facts. He childproofed everything. After getting over the initial fear that he would drop her, he carried her around everywhere. He did not let her out of his sight. He couldn't bear the thought of her getting hurt. Really, for the man who was known for being ice cold (no mistakes) and possessing a tendency to over prepare for everything, he was flying by the seat of his pants.
Iceman felt annoyingly like Maverick. Cowboy.
Ice was the first of their TOPGUN class, besides Goose, to have a child. Years and years later, Slider would go on to have a horde of boys, Wolfman had twins, Hollywood would have a daughter, and Maverick would become a godfather to both of his best friends' kids. But as the first of his friends — and siblings — to have a child, Iceman was forced into the uncomfortable position of not knowing what the hell he was doing.
