Be My Valentine

"Eunji-yah, Valentine's Day is coming up!" Jungkook says enthusiastically to his best friend.

Eunji responds with a low grumble and focuses her attention on zipping up her bag. Valentine's day was the last thing she wanted to think about right now.

"I know Kook," She ends up saying, not wanting Jungkook to think she was ignoring him.

He put his books away and stood up, "Why do you look so down?"

She shrugs and makes her way out of the classroom, exiting the school. Jungkook is quick to follow her.

"C'mon tell me!" He pleaded.

Eunji rolled her eyes in annoyance. She knows that she could never hide anything from her best friend for very long. If she doesn't give the boy a satisfactory answer, Jungkook would not stop annoying her about it.

"I just don't like Valentine's Day," Eunji quietly admits.

"Why? Because you don't have a valentine?" He asked in a teasing tone.

Eunji quickly defends herself, "No! Just everything about it is so cheesy and lovey. It makes me kinda sick honestly."

Now Eunji was lying and she knew very well that she was. In fact, she loved the idea of an excuse to create sweet memories with her boyfriend. The only problem was that she didn't have a boyfriend. And of course the boy she had a crush on just had to be her best friend. But she couldn't even imagine attempting to confess to Jungkook. She was too shy and afraid of rejection. Besides, he only saw Eunji as a sister right?

What Eunji was unaware of, was that Jungkook too had quite the crush on her. No girl was capable of making his heartbeat so abruptly with just her presence. He wanted a mature and playful girl who knew him inside and out. In Jungkook's mind, who better fit those qualities than Eunji? Then again, he was too shy to admit his true feelings. That and he was also afraid of rejection.

"Well do you want a valentine?" Jungkook then questions. Even though Eunji claimed that she didn't like the idea of valentine's day, he had an idea that she wasn't giving him the complete truth.

"As nice as that sounds Kookie, I'm afraid it's not going to happen anytime soon," She says, sounding a bit sad.

The young boy frowns, not happy to see the girl upset. In an effort to cheer her up, Jungkook changed the subject to talk about the new video game he just got.

The rest of the day Jungkook thought about what he could do to cheer you up. He felt guilty. If he wasn't so shy then he would've probably asked Eunji to be his valentine already. A light bulb suddenly went off in his head and he got right to work with preparations.

A few days later, the 14th arrived and Eunji felt more depressed than ever. She didn't want to get out of bed either but knew that she couldn't take the chance of missing school. She quickly put on her favorite white sweater and blue jeggings, finishing it off with her brown timberlands (Jungkook had matching ones).

When she arrived at school she immediately spotted smiling Kookie sitting at the desk next to hers. She remembered the silent celebration she had when the teacher assigned her seat next to Jungkook. Despite how much she would get annoyed with the boy's constant distractions, she felt more comfortable having her best friend to sit by.

Eunji forces herself to smile back, "Hi."

"Hey Eunji-yah. Can we hang out after school today?" he asked, sitting down in his seat.

She lightly chuckles to herself, "Kookie we hang out every day!"

He smiles too, "Yeah but I have something to show you!"

Feeling a little hesitant, Eunji agrees to come to Jungkook's house once school is over.

Classes dragged on causing Jungkook to feel anxious. He was eager to finally confess to Eunji, but he was nervous about what she would say too. Finally, the bell rang, freeing kids from school.

"Are your parents home?" Eunji asks when they get to Jungkook's house.

He shakes his head as he gets his keys out, "No they're in Seoul for the week."

Eunji nods understandingly. Once she walked through the door of the house, she was greeted with quite the surprise.

Before her, the small wooden table wore a white table cloth, decorated with red rose petals and had a scented lit candle in the center. Jungkook quickly rushed to the kitchen to bring out two bowls of her jajangmyeon on a "silver platter."

Eunji clasps her palm over her mouth, feeling utterly speechless. Did he really do all this for...me?

"Kookie...I don't understand," Eunji says. She swore that her heart was beating a dozen times faster than it was five minutes ago, "What is all this?"

He smiles and holds out a single rose that he had hidden behind his back, "Eunji, I know that you don't like Valentine's Day. But I was hoping that I could change your mind."

Eunji tilts her head, "Wh-what do you mean?"

His cheeks were tinted pink as he placed the rose in her hand. He takes a deep breath and speaks quietly, "I'm in love with you Eunji. Will you be my valentine? And maybe my girlfriend too?"

Eunji suddenly felt tears of joy reach her eyes. She hadn't realized how much she had yearned to hear those words come out of his mouth.

"Oh Jungkook...yes," Eunji says, feeling almost breathless. "Yes, of course."

Jungkook felt a pump of euphoria burst in his heart, "I guess I can do this now."

Before she could question what he meant, Jungkook takes a step closer to Eunji and leans in to kiss her lips passionately. Fireworks exploded in Eunji's mind as she slowly began to kiss back. She had never realized how soft and warm his lips felt on hers. Their lips moved in sync as Jungkook placed his hands on her waist.

"Happy Valentines Day," Jungkook says when they pull away. "My Jagiya."
