"Eunji-yah I think...I think we should break up."

She wasn't prepared to hear those words come out of his mouth. They were young, only fifteen. But Eunji still couldn't picture herself with anyone else. She didn't think things would end like this. She didn't expect it to sting so much.

"Break up?" She asked, as if she didn't know what those words meant.

Jungkook's head was hung low as he nodded, "I...I need to focus on my career, I can't be distracted."

So she was a distraction? Eunji slowly processed what he just told her. Jungkook had become a trainee at Bighit not long ago. She barely saw her boyfriend anymore. He was always in the company, doing dance practice, vocal training, and school. His schedule was so packed, he had no time to go see (Y/n) for even a minute.

"Jungkook-ah..."

"I don't even have time to take you out anymore," Jungkook said, trying to not let his voice shake. He was trying to be strong for the both of them. "It's only going to get worse if we keep going like this."

Eunji didn't want to give up her only source of happiness. But she couldn't be selfish right now. Jungkook wanted so badly to become an idol. She knew that better than anyone. In fact, she had thought something like this would happen, but she hadn't expected it to happen so soon.

"Let's break up then," She said, not believing the words that came out of her mouth. Jungkook looked up at her in shock at her words. He had expected Eunji to get angry and scream at him. But she wasn't.

She could see the pain in those eyes, knowing he was equally torn about this as she was. Despite everything that was happening right now, she held in her tears. She couldn't make things more difficult for him.

She tried to smile for him, "You're right, I'll only be in the way."

"Eunji I didn't mean-"

"I know," She said quietly, gently squeezing his hand. "It's okay Jungkook."

Jungkook pulled her into his embrace, "I'm so sorry Eunji-yah. You deserve better than me."

"Don't say that," She said, rubbing his back. Don't cry. Don't you dare cry Kim Eunji.

She pulled away and smiled sadly, "Don't feel bad, I understand."

He pressed his lips against hers, kissing her one last time. In this way, he hoped she could feel his apology and sorry how things had to turn out this way. Now she couldn't help but to let a tear fall from her eyes. She kissed back, wishing she could just stay in this moment forever. She wanted to enjoy his warming touch at least one more time.

"Be happy Jeon Jungkook."

Annyeong my lovely readers! I hope you liked this one-shot, I will have a part two if you're curious. I also want to address, the change in (Y/n)'s name. You've probably seen me use her name a bit throughout this book. That's because, I've noticed that some people might not like using (Y/n) and I personally think that it would just fit better if I have an actual name. So please don't be upset, but I'm probably going to substitute (Y/n) for Kim Eunji from now on. I hope that's okay with you. Thank you for reading! Please stay safe and healthy. Remember to wear a mask if you go outside ^_^
