"Marry a king's blade, she said! What is this? The 18th century?" You spoke into your phone angrily, pacing about in your room. The person on the other line chuckled, "Well, if you do end up marrying a king's blade, tell him I'm interested in his grandson."

You hissed at your friend, "Solar, I am not getting married to some creep as old as my dad! Hell, I'm not getting married to anyone at all!"

Your bestfriend sighed into the phone, you could already imagine her picking at her eyelashes, which she always does whenever she was deep in thought. "I don't know, [Y/N]. There are younger men in the king's blade, and isn't this what your mum has been waiting for?"

You flopped onto your bed like a discarded banana peel, a frown on your lips. All your family had been trying to do for the last 50 years or more was rejoin the King's blades, apparently. The king's blades are an elite group of people, mostly noble families, entrusted with taking care of serious activities for the king, the eldest children from the household usually became the next lord of the family and the younger ones became either knights, politicians or assassins and spies for the king.

Your family had been a part of it ever since the human monarchy was established, but unfortunately, your grandfather, the eldest child at that time, ruined it for the [L/N] name when he deserted his post (and family) to run off with a nymph.

He betrayed the kingdom by not only running away from his problems but also by falling in love with a non-human, something the king referred to as blasphemous.

Naturally, this came at a cost for your family. Nothing would be able to fix this except a female daughter getting married to the lord of a family who is amongst the elite king's blades. Unfortunately, you were the first in a long time.

"Yes." You finally replied to her, "But, Solar, this isn't what I want."

All you wanted was your freedom, you wanted to travel the world. Meet a lot of people, eat different kinds of food, leave your racist kingdom and go to the city where humans and other creatures could live without any discrimination.

You heard Solar's voice go soft, "Of course, but there's nothing that can be done to change their minds."

Your relationship with Solar was almost as though you were the same person. You were rebellion, trying to fight against your fate and make a difference whilst she was the voice of reason, knowing the perfect time to give up.

"I'm sorry." She spoke once more, but before you could reply, someone knocked on your door.

From the three light taps you knew it was your mother. "[Y/N]. Your teacher's here." Then you heard her footsteps make her way to her bedroom.

"I'll call you back." You explained to your friend before cutting the call, you both knew you were not calling back after your lesson, you were going to sleep.

You picked up three large books and made sure to fix your dress before walking down the stairs. When you reached the the bottom of the stairs, you could peek and see your teacher stood next to his usual seat, he never sat until you were seated as well.

The man was about six foot tall, he tied his long blonde hair, that looked almost white, behind his back, leaving a few strands to brush against the pale skin on his neck. His blue eyes held a stern gaze that contradicts the usually soft smile he has on his face most of the time. He was dressed as he usually did, in a cassock and of course, the golden crucifix hanging around his neck.

You walked towards the table, a small smile growing on your face from seeing his own. "Good evening, Vedast." You greeted the priest, he greeted back before the both of you proceeded to take your seats and proceed with your lessons.

In no time, you were done with your class, which was actually just bible analysis. Vedast broke the silence that somehow found it's way into the room.

"I heard from your mother, she plans to bring in suitors?"

You looked at him in complete disbelief, "She told you that?" You found it unbelievable that she was spreading the news to people already, showing you that you had no control over the fact that you would get married soon.

"You do not wish to be wed?" Vedast questioned,  curiosity evident in his cerulean eyes. You shake your head in response, "I still have so much more to do..."

A smile made it's way onto Vedast's face, "Of course. Such as becoming a nun." He let out a chuckle when he saw the sour expression you made.

Vedast then rose from his seat, after taking a glance at the wall clock. "Well, I must take my leave now. I trust you will contact me when something comes up."

After you returned to your room, you fell asleep almost instantly and was almost shocked when your mother woke you up at the crack of dawn.

"[Y/N]." She spoke in a soft dress, "You must wake up and get ready,"

You gave her a confused look, "Your suitor will be arriving by ten o'clock." Your mother added, before calmly walking out of the room as though she didnt say anything new.

"My what?!" You were awake at that point.

You were forced into a corset, which you were absolutely certain was at least two sizes too small for you, and  a surprisingly simple but beautiful silk dress by your mother.

She did your hair, no words exchanged amongst the both of you, until she was almost done with your makeup.

"It's almost ten, he should arrive by-" She was interrupted by the doorbell ringing. Your mother looked down at you, "I'll call you down." She said, then left the room.

You stared at your hands, a million thoughts racing through your head. Would you have to marry someone twice your age and live as a submissive housewife all your life? Would you be expected to produce him heirs? Were you willing to sacrifice your life for your family? Did you really have no other choice?

You began to imagine what your new life would be like.

You would wake up to find out your spouse was at work, everyday. If you had children, then they would probably already be at school, you would watch tv with nothing to do other than that or eat food until dusk. It sounded absolutely horrible. By then, the children and master would be home and you'd have to-

"[Y/N], dear." You heard your mother finally call for you, you blinked away tears that had gathered in your eyes and made your way down the stairs and into the living room to meet the man that would take away your freedom. You walked in with your head down, avoiding the gazes of both he and your mother.

"My, what a beautiful bride you would make." Your so called suitor sounded familiar. Almost too familiar.

You looked up to make eye contact with piercing green eyes that you've stared into a lot of times before.

"Lucas?" Your voice sounded calm, but had an undertone of rage in it. You glanced at your mother, glad she didnt notice the look of utter disgust you gave the boy in front of you.

It seemed like your anger didnt get past him, though, because a smirk made it's way onto his face before he finally replied, "In the flesh."
