so it is here that i dwindle

i spiral

a tear to the winds

down the gutter.

a drop of midnight,

inkstains fading with the moon

dwindling on the horizon

/

they tick as they dance

fingers crossed, racing in a hopeless spiral

their skies set

they set mine

/

a million fireflies

longing, longing.

no ripples

merely slipping, slipping.

until the stars

can't see each other.

then i may be reborn.

/

a madman's dance,

those fingers.

and are we puppets upon their strings?

/

the first glance

the first eyes i could never forget

so after we lock

it's all goodbyes.

/

every string

spinning, spinning

pearls upon silver;

it snaps

so here we remain

a thousand lights

flickering, flickering

until we don't.
